Eight Years

I’m very happy to announce that on this day, back in 2003, I married my best friend.  Lizze and I have been together for over a decade now.

Life is never easy and our lives are no exception but we take every day for what it is,  a gift.

It’s hard to believe how much time has actually passed since we exchanged vows.  It’s kind of funny,  I still have the shirt my parents bought me to wear to our reception.  I haven’t worn it in many years but I still keep it because it reminds me of that day. Even though it’s old and has seen better days,  it always makes me smile.

Lizze and I have been through more in our short time together then many people will experience in a lifetime.  Despite all the tragedy and heartache,  we have built a life for ourselves and our family.  While it’s not perfect,  it’s 100% our own and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

I get asked every once in awhile if I would do this all again,  knowing everything in advance.  My answer comes very easily and without thought.  I would do this all over again in a heartbeat.  In fact,  if I could slow the hands of time,  in order to make our lives together last longer,  I would.

Our marriage isn’t perfect and we have our challenges but instead of letting them divide us,  we somehow managed to overcome them. Lizze and I have always joked that we are so different that no one would have worked but somehow we defy logic and work very well together.

I couldn’t ask for a better mother to my children, wife or best friend.  I have found everything I have ever wanted in one person.  I know that you will have to read one of these posts from me, every single year for as long as I’m alive.

Happy Anniversary Lizze.  I know we can’t go anywhere but at least we will be together. Hopefully it will be a quite day.  I’m thinking, early night for the kids.  Then pizza and King of the Hill on NetFlix.  What do you think? Nothing amazing but it’s definitely us 😉

I love you more today then I ever have.

I'm late to the party on this one since I've had no power because of Hurricane Irene, but Happy Anniversary. I hope it went well. 🙂
