Brushing

I thought I would post this in order to help clarify something that I refer to quite frequently.

I talk about brushing the kids all the time as a means of providing sensory relief.  I wasn’t sure if anyone had actually seen the brushes used for this. I thought I would post a few pictures of what is probably the most commonly used brush.

This brush works very well.  It’s soft but firm and the kids really benefit from it.  We tend to get ours directly from our OT for under $2. 00 each.

I hope this helps someone.  If nothing else, maybe this gives you a little more knowledge than you had before. 😉

The brushing has changed our world. Our OT gave us a hand-out with instructions on how to use them properly and then she actually showed us how to do it. I didn't realize at first that you need to apply a lot of pressure to the brushes so the bristles are bent all the way. I was worried I was being too rough, but the harder I brush, the better our son responds. Brushing is wonderful. 🙂
My recent post THANK YOU!

They are surgical scrub brushes. You can order them yourself on Amazon (and probably other places) for about $1.00 each if you buy 30 or so at a time….
