Behavioral Crisis: Update 07/20/2012 (8pm)

Gavin has been admitted.  Much beyond that,  I don’t know.  I known that he’ll probably be here for the better part of a week,  as we have given them permission to tweak his meds.

The idea is that we will use this time to find a suitable facility for long term care.

More to come.

I am relieved for you and Lizzie, relieved for the little guys who deserve a fighting chance to reach their potential, and relieved that Gavin is in a safe place, with hope to find appropriate longer term care. You have done more than most to control the situation, but now you need a little break to recoup your health, drive, and strength. You are not giving up, you are just getting what Gavin needs. THAT'S good parenting.

Best of luck. You are doing the right thing.

I’ve been in your shoes. My son was in & out of hospitals throughout his adolescents.

God bless.

I know this has had to be one of the hardest decisions that you, as a family, have ever had to make. I feel for you and hope that the best comes from this. I'm sure all of your readers know that this is, and will always be, far from an easy choice, and that you are doing what you believe is the absolute best thing for your child. Hopefully none of us ever have to make a decision like this in our lives. My family has been battling for about 13 years on what to do with my baby brother. He has violent problems and refuses all medication. I understand just how hard this decision has been for you, and I hope it helps both him and your family.
