Buying porn with the family. Really?

This post is completely off topic but I’ve been wanting to do this one for awhile now. This is sort of a rant but I’m allowed to climb up on my soapbox on occasion.

Last week we were driving home from somewhere, I can’t remember where we were coming from, but it’s not really important.

There is this porn store on Cleveland Ave, which is kinda the main street that runs through Canton.

As we drove past the porn shop, on our way home, I saw something that has really been bothering me. I saw what appeared to be a family,  walking out of the adult store.

I’m being totally serious.  There was a man, a woman and younger kid.

The kid looked like he was maybe 8 years old. I’m assuming that he was accompanied by his parents. Anyway, I watched as they all walked out of the porn store and made their way to their car.

I was driving so I couldn’t get a picture but I was completely floored by this.

I have one question. Well actually, I have a million questions but this is the one that has been running circles in my head since last week.

Who the f@ck does something like that?

I mean really. Who makes buying pornography a family event? I guess I could see of the child was really, really young.  Forget that, I can’t justify any part of this?

Sure, maybe I sound a tad judgemental but really? This is that kind of thing that is just screaming, judge me.

Seriously, how did the conversation that led to this family excursion, start off? I can’t even get my mind to go there.

This has just been bugging me since last week and I’ve been meaning to share this with you all and just haven’t gotten to it yet.

How many of you get bored during the week and decide that it would be a great idea to take the wife and kid to the porn shop?  I realize that the $.25 private viewing booths may sound like a deal you just can’t pass up but really?

I’m curious to know what you all think about this.

Where do you even begin to count the never of reasons that this is wrong?  Maybe I’m just too old fashioned?

@NathansVoice @Lost_and_Tired I have so much to say behind this story. Parents need to have respect for themselves and the children.

maybe the parents own the shop…  who knows.  It isn't something that I would do.  My dad has a large collection of porn.  My kids aren't allowed in his house. When we are in the city where grandpa lives we go out to dinner, or have him at what ever family hosted event we are attending.  But the kids aren't allowed to go to grandpa's house. Not that I think that grandpa would do anything to them.  It is just that some things, kids shouldn't be exposed to.  at least not until they are much older.

@whynotfathers @Lost_and_Tired That is one BAD "Birds & the Bees" talk.

It is simply abuse ,kids, should not be exposed to ADULT things, that child is being early sexualized, and it needs to be reported . I am not making judgements about adults who watch porn, but kids should never be exposed to porn, and two adults that take a 8or 9 year old into a sex shop is beyond irresponsible and I believe it is illegal for the store to allow it,Call the police that store needs to be watched ,to many kids are being abused and or even being sold for Adult perversions .

People are psycho.  Even with the best communication there is no good reason for a child to go into a porn store. I'm glad you brought this into the light.  There are many times I feel there are over the line inappropriateness that goes on.  sighhhhhhhhh. I also say this is those parents Karma. On this other "out there" level. The child has his own Karma too. Great post

I see no "good" reason for a child to enter a Porn shop!  Being an open family is one thing, showing your minor child sex acts is another!  No wonder kids are so messed up today!

What @danielalex_book said is sort of where my brain went… perhaps they had a good reason. I do think its incredibly strange, but maybe they're just a very open family that doesn't taboo sex, and is trying to raise a responsible, good male who doesn't abuse his sexual partners? Maybe the kid had some questions and they decided they didn't want to be the ones answering their 8-year-old's sex questions, so they figured they'd go to the experts? I dunno. It does seem very VERY young for something like that.

I am fairly certain there are laws against taking minors into porn shops, and other establishments like that.  You should call the police and let them know what you saw, even if it's been a while.  They might have other instances of that, or can start watching that place more closely.  I sure hope that little boy isn't being abused in any way.  Not that "porn" means abuse, but the adults in that situation aren't exactly looking out for that child.  This is really sad….

danielalex_book

That is a little weird.
I probably wouldn't do it myself.
Although, we don't know their intention, and maybe they had a valid reason.
Maybe, their child was exposed to something by an "outsider" and they took the child to the sex shop to show and explain something to them.
If that's the case, maybe they doing a really good thing, and educating their child before others corrupt their mind.
They may have also been the shop owners.
It's probably not the best thing in the world to do, but who knows maybe they had a good reason.

That's just beyond eeewwwwww!  No, you're not old-fashioned, just a good parent.  🙂

That is seriously crazy!  I would *think* there would be "18 & up" age requirement to enter the place!  I would look into that as no young child should be allowed into such a place.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around finding 50 Shades front and center at the grocery store.
