Gavin’s Lego Kingdom

I wanted to share what Gavin was working on today.  It's his own little Lego kingdom and it was inspired by Elliott and I playing the old Ages of Empire's II on our computer. After watching for a little while, he decided that he wanted to make a Lego version and this is the result.  I realized today, just how low our Lego population has become.  If it were an animal, Lego’s in our house would be on the endangered species list. He used a large portion of what is left of a previously massive Lego collection. I suppose it's time to start replenishing the Lego population.  Anyway, he was really happy with his creation and wanted to make sure that I took a picture and shared it with all…

We have no kids tonight

We have no kids tonight. That's right, we are childless and really enjoying the peace and quiet. We are just hanging out and watching Netflix. I can't wait to actually go to sleep, sleep through the night and a large portion of the morning.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

Someone keyed our van :-(

So the boys are spending the night at my parents house to tonight.  It's sort of a say goodbye to summer kinda thing.  When we dropped the boys off, the plan was to remove our bad tire and swap it out for the spare.  We did that. However, while we had the van up in the jack, I noticed that someone had keyed the rear passenger side door.  They're deep enough that they won't buff out but I couldn't get a decent picture for sending reason.  This was clearly done on purpose because it looks like someone scribbled on the door with a car key.  What's wrong with people.  Whatever happened to respecting other people's personal property? I would never do that to someone else and I don't understand why…

A big step forward for Operation Hope

The Cleveland Clinic contacted me last night and wanted us to know that they are going to take care of getting the records to John's Hopkins. I have to get them a fax number today and they will rush them over. They are also going to try and bump up Gavin's appointment with the amazing Dr. Moodley. This is a big step forward since the records getting process was sorta tripping us up right now. I've got everything read for when they call.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

The Jury’s back and the verdict is in

The letter from the Cleveland Clinic made it to the Jury commission yesterday.  We were waiting to hear back from the judge to find out if Lizze would be excused from jury duty because of her health issues. This morning, the judge has officially excused her from jury duty. Ironically, Lizze actually really wanted to sit on a jury because it's something she's always wanted to do. Unfortunately, her health won't allow her to partake in the jury pool this particular time. Anyway, she's not going to be held accountable for not being present this week. Thank you to the Cleveland Clinic for helping too ensure her wellbeing. Operation Hope: Meet Gavin and learn about his challenges

I thought that it might be a good idea to bring everyone up speed on everything that is going on with Gavin. I've got a ton of new readers (thank you) and I think now would be a good time to get everyone on the same page. Operation Hope, is what I call our mission to help Gavin overcome the obstacles in his life. This includes finding any and all ways that we can slow the progress of, cure or reverse his mounting list of very, very serious and life threatening health issues. Gavin is 13 years old chronologically but 4 years old developmentally, in many but not all areas. Gavin loves Lego’s, video games, Sonic the Hedgehog, drawing, writing, reading and going to school. He's very creative and can be…

Frustrated, Worried and Scared

We haven't really had any serious behavioral issues with Gavin lately.  He's been doing really well making better choices and we have been letting him know that. The problems we have been having seem to be a result of continued neurological degradation. Gavin's  been having a lot of pain today and we aren't really sure what's going on.  It almost sounds like reflux but reflux hasn't been an issue for a very long time.  It's frustrating because God live him, he isn't capable of giving us accurate, reliable information about anything really. This is especially true when it comes to his health. Tonight, we gave him a small glass of milk to try and figure out if it was reflux related. We were very, very clear with him and we…
