Something I noticed after almost a year of sleeping alone

This is sort of a random post but I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this happening in their life.

Since my wife left last October, I’ve spent every night sleeping alone. The obvious exception is when Emmett climbs into my bed at some point each night.

Anyway, I noticed that I’ve recently started sleeping on the opposite side of the bed than I used to sleep on when I was married. For the longest time, I stayed on the left side of the bed, as I’ve always slept on that side.

As I have adjusted to my new life, I’ve found that I have been moving to the opposite side of the bed.

I was wondering if anyone else that has gone through a divorce or break up, continued sleeping on the same side of the bed or did you switch the opposite?

Sometimes I sprawl out and sometimes I pick a side and don’t move. It’s just something weird I noticed.. Thanks for sharing.. 🙂

I always used to sleep mashed into a corner cuz the ex was a bed hog. Now, I either sprawl all over the damn thing, or gingerly pick a place around where my kittens have fallen asleep. 🙂 I have a 12 week old tux that still has trouble climbing on to my bed and wears himself out getting there.. And I don’t like to disturb the poor little muffin after all that work.. Lol.. And theo.. My yearish tabby.. Normally snuggles into my side no matter where I’m laying.
I have become the crazy cat lady. They are my substitute boyfriend.

Thanks Elle… I’ve never heard that quote cause I’ve never seen the movie. I agree with you though.. Sleep is sleep.. 🙂

Yes and no. It makes me think of the Diane Keaton quote from something’s gotta give, “Well, the phone doesn’t ring that much at night and the whole alone thing happens at night, and sleeping by myself took some getting used to, but I got the hang of it. You’ve got to sleep in the middle of the bed. It’s absolutely unhealthy to have one side of the bed when nobody else is on the other side.”
I don’t necessarily agree with this entirely. but I don’t entirely disagree either. As long as I get quality sleep at night, (which is a bit of an oxymoron since I have fibro,) i don’t care where I sleep. It’s been really strange since he left. That’s all I know.

I don’t know if that means anything. I feel like it’s a part of the process. Maybe emotional healing or something? Maybe it means nothing more than you’ve ventured to the other side of the bed. I just noticed that about myself and wondered about others experience..
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
