VERY FRUSTRATED: Elliott’s and Emmett’s meds still haven’t been called in and now they’re out

I’m really angry at this point because both Elliott’s and Emmett’s doctors office is dropping the ball.

There were issues refilling their meds again and I was assured that it would be taken care on Friday.

I wrote about this last week.

Elliott had an appointment last Monday night.  During the appointment there were changes made to his medication and I was told that the script would be sent in first thing in the morning, because the system was down.

I didn’t think anything of it and that does make it easier. The problem is that no one ever followed through and sent the scripts in.

When I finally got through to someone at the office, they apologized for the mixup with the medication and the fact that they never called me back to schedule the followup appointments, like they were supposed to.

I went over the scripts that needed faxed in with the nurse and she promised me they would be sent in by the end of the day.

Guess what….  It’s Sunday and the scripts were never sent in.

The reason it wasn’t a huge deal last week was because we changed Elliott back to his precious medication and he still had a couple of days left.  That’s why I wasn’t too worried about it.

Unfortunately, he’s out now.

Monday makes an entire week that they haven’t followed through.

It’s the boys ADHD meds and so it’s not something like Gavin’s Clozapine, where if he misses a dose it’s an enormous deal.

That said, it’s still a problem for a number of reasons.  I have to rely on the doctors office to do what they commit to doing and at this point, I’m unable to.

It’s also not as simple as finding a new doctor because while the office itself has major issues, there isn’t a better doctor.  I mean he’s literally one of the very best in the country when it comes to kids.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pissed at this point.

One of my readers provided a suggestion and I’m sorry, I don’t remember who it was but I’m going to do what they suggested.

I’ll simply drive to the office and not leave until I have the scripts in hand.  Then I’ll take them to the pharmacy myself.

It shouldn’t have to be that way but it’s the best way to ensure this actually gets addressed.

It’s just what I have to do…  That will give them three months of their meds and I can deal with this at the next appointment, coming up in about a week.

Thats the best option at this point is to get the scripts in hand, and keep doing it that way every 3 months. I use Right Source and their system was ‘down’ too. My husband is on a med for cancer he was almost out of and I called it in plenty of time. On the day he had 1 pill left, I called the oncologist and she did fax the script- the only problem was Right Source had already billed insurance so he couldnt get anything because supposedly they were on the way but because the sustem down they coudnt tell me an arrival date. . I ended up driving 3 hours (back and forth) to Iowa City for meds to last. Computers are great, and so are services we auto refill and normally they do their job, but man when they go down it is a pain in the butt.
If you arent using something like the mail order ones like I chose to do (they are cheaper is why I did it) I would sure get the scripts in hand .
Good luck! I hate dealing with that mess, and I got a mess to deal with tomorrow too. Actually two messes OK 3 messes. I am going to bed and not worry about it!
