Fit4Autism: Weigh-in Wednesday 9.6.17

Weight-loss is a very personal thing and sharing one’s weight, especially when one is overweight, isn’t easy.

I feel as though I have a responsibility to my readers, and as such, I’m choosing to do weigh-in Wednesday’s.

Preaching about the importance of taking care of ourselves falls flat if I don’t lead by example. If that means sharing some personal information that is frankly, embarrassing than so be it.

My hope is that I can inspire other Autism parents to work on their own health and wellness.

Good for you for wanting to be more transparent on your weight. You’re right in that it can be difficult and embarrassing to put it out there, but it can be an effective tool. Also, making your food diary public again might help. I share mine with friends on my Fitbit app and I tend to make better food choices when I know someone is ‘watching’. Being able to see others’ steps and active minutes also brings out my competitive side and gets me off my butt and on my feet.

Thanks Kim. I thought the diary was public. You can’t see it? I’ll look at it. I had to make some changes in the settings because my steps were being duplicated.. I’ll check and see if it’s something I accidentally did.

It used to be public but went dark a few weeks ago. I just checked and it still comes up as private. My steps were duplicated a few weeks ago because I flew through time zones and the Fitbit didn’t reset, so I had a day of 27,000 steps which has skewed my ‘best ever’ settings.
