(Poll) Why my family gets the flu shot each year, does yours?

We have to be very careful when it comes to exposing Gavin to any type of illness because he’s living with a severely compromised immune system. Considering his labs have been bad as well, we have an bigger reason to be careful.

It’s for these above reasons, it’s extremely important that everyone in our family receive the flu shot every year.

Receiving the flu shot not only helps to protect us from the ravages of the flu, but it also helps to ensure that Gavin is covered by another layer of protection as well. Without fail, we all receive the flu shot every single year. So far, we have been able to avoid the flu and for that, we are grateful.

As many as 56,000 people die from the flu each year. At most risk are the elderly, very young and those with compromised immune systems.

We are unwilling to take the risk with our family but that’s a very personal decision. Do you make sure your family gets the flu shot each year?

I have a weak immune system, so I need to get it. Sad part about it though, is it doesn’t have all the possible flu types you could get over the season, just the most likely. Often still get sick. I don’t have insurance to cover either, so all out of pocket.
