We’re going into our third week of summer vacation and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not looking forward to it because there’s something amazing happening, in fact, it’s quite the opposite.
I’m looking forward to this week because there’s absolutely nothing going on.
We still have our regular, weekly appointments but there are no out of town trips and no doctors appointments that have the potential to go badly.
So often we are bouncing from one appointment to the next, in a seemingly endless game of hopscotch. It’s exhausting for all of us but it’s especially hard on the kids.
Our goal for this week is to have a low key, relaxing seven days because we start back up with out of town appointments next week.
Our budget for the month has been decimated by all the unplanned expenses that came up recently. I only say that to help put things into context and to explain why we aren’t going to be doing anything super exciting this week with the kids.
While that’s true, we are still looking to do some fun, family activities, assuming Emmett feels better and no one else gets sick. ☺
If you have any ideas for affordable, fun, family activities in the Northeast Ohio area, I’m all ears.. ☺
I was wondering: in Netherlands we have access to many free holiday activities like swimming, computer workshops, horse riding, et cetera, also for special needs children, is that not the case in your area?
The Netherlands sounds awesome. Here in the states those things vary according to which town, city or state you live in. There are public pools everywhere but once again, different rules. Most public pools I’ve ever been in charge a fee. It may not be a big fee and there are probably price breaks for families.
(I live on the opposite side of the state of Ohio, so I can’t even claim that Rob’s area is like mine.)
I know in Bryan there is a Parks and Recreation guide. For example, there are art workshops and other outside activities. Those are usually at a cost. But possibly there are price breaks and/or scholarships for people according to income?
What about swimming? If you all can’t afford a public pool, is there a state park nearby? I know if I wanted to take a couple kids out we’ve gone to a nice state park where there is a lake to swim. There is usually a very low fee for a car load to get in.
