Please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers as she heads to the @ClevelandClinic for most of the week

This is going to be an absolutely crazy week. In fact, it’s going to be one of the most challenging weeks we’ve had in recent memory and we’re going to need all the help we can get. Thankfully we have that help in the form of our parents, on both sides.

I meant to get to this on Friday but I didn’t. Lizze was approved for here headache infusions and they begin in the morning. We will be making the sometimes three hour round trip, four days in a row this week. This makes things very complicated because the boys need to get to and from school each day. We also have Gavin who wouldn’t do well on these trips.

Thankfully, Gavin will be staying with Lizze’s parents until Thursday afternoon and the boys will be staying with my parents during the same time frame.

This is meant to try and limit their disruption as much as possible. The schedule is all over the place this week and they need as much consistency as possible. The other reason is logistical in nature. Lizze has to be at the Cleveland Clinic on the following days this week:

  • Monday 11:30 AM
  • Tuesday 12:30 PM
  • Wednesday 8:00 AM
  • Thursday 12:30 PM

While we would be around to get the boys to school in the morning (for the most part), getting them home from school will not be possible. We won’t be home until after dinner and that would be chaotic for the boys. We were prepared to do that if need be but our parents suggested keeping the kids for the week and that proved to be the best option for everyone.

This process is going to be very difficult for Lizze and I’m not sure what shape she’s going to be in when I bring her home each night. The nature of the infusions is such that I suspect she will be sleeping for most of the week. She’s going to be heavily, heavily medicated in an attempt to break her migraine. I’m planning on letting her sleep as much as she needs to.

Originally, her infusions were supposed to be six hours a day but it appears that insurance will only cover four hours per day. I’m not sure if maybe the order changed but it seems like an insurance thing. We’ll find out what’s going on when we get there in the moring.

When Lizze has had these done in the past, I wasn’t permitted to be in the room with her. The Cleveland Clinic may be different but I’m prepared to sit in the waiting room for the duration of her infusions. I’ll have my laptop and tablet with me so I can get some work done and the Cleveland Clinic encourages people to utilize the indoor walkways for walking. There’s people walking during lunch breaks and I figure I can get my walking in as well.

I was able to get most of Friday’s upcoming pod recorded a head of time so if the week gets away from me, I can still have the new episode live on time. I needed time with Emmett because he wanted to talk about how sensory issues impact his life and since sensory processing disorder is one of this weeks topics, it was a perfect fit. You can look forward to that publishing at midnight on Friday morning.

Lizze is really nervous about this week and so am I. I know she’s terrified that this isn’t going to work and she will have to live with this pain for the rest of her life. I’m praying that isn’t the case and she finds some relief. While the procedure is covered by insurance, this is still going to be expensive for us with travel, parking and food but we have to do what we have to do.

I would really appreciate any thoughts and prayers you can send our way. Lizze is really nervous and she deserves to finally find relief from this unending, seven year long migraine. Thanks guys..

Wish us luck.

Good luck.

Hopefully this works for her and she can finally feel a little ‘normal’ again

Since the boys aren’t going wouldn’t this be a good time to pack lunches instead of eating out, since you and Lizzie don’t have the sensory related issues that make it difficult for the boys?

And are there maybe cheaper or free parking lots a little further away? That could kill two birds with one stone, cheaper parking and getting your steps in after you drop Lizzie off at the front

Best of luck for all of you for this challenging week – everything is crossed that the infusions work x
