All things considered

As I predicted in my last post, while my kids were enthusiastic about going for an early morning walk, their enthusiasm didn’t last long.

Elliott was wearing sandals because his shoes are now uncomfortable for him. They aren’t too small, and they’re in very good shape. I think it’s probably sensory related.

Anyway, he was also getting eaten alive. The bugs love him, and he barely made it the first one and a half miles.

Emmett did okay, but he was pooping out pretty quickly. I relocated us to a different part of the park in a bid to avoid the bugs, and salvage the walk. Unfortunately, Elliott was done and wanted to go home. I got less than two miles in, and it’s a bit frustrating. It was a perfect morning and perfect timing, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

My disappointment with the duration of the walk aside, it’s always awesome to spend some time with my kids. I always learn something new, and I’m helping them to make memories that will hopefully last, long after I’m gone.

All things considered, it’s been a pretty great morning.

I meant to ask this a few days ago and never got around to it so I’m going to ask here- you mentioned that Emmett is in weekly therapy for his depression… are you referring to the weekly session with Dr. Pattie? Do any of the kids have their own one-on-one therapy or is family all they are getting? To follow up to that question- you have been seeing Pattie for many years and I’m curious what she does during family therapy. That’s not meant as an insult but it does seem like you are spinning your wheels and I really do wonder if she is giving you and the boys tools and goals to help to help enhance your lives or is each session basically a weekly check in. The boys especially might need some individualized attention as they get older.

At 11 he shouldn’t be pooping out at less than 2 miles, does he have health problems?
