A little normalcy goes a long way

One of the things I’m so grateful for is just how far my kids have come over the years. I can remember when they were younger, the idea of taking them all out of the house at the same time, and visiting public places was incredibly overwhelming. It wasn’t like I never took them anywhere, but it was such an undertaking. I would often be left completely frazzled afterward, questioning my life choices.

Over the years, life has improved for all of us, and now we’re doing things that were once thought to be incredibly difficult.

This weekend, my girlfriend and I took all the boys, including Gavin, out for the day. We picked a half dozen or so local places we wanted to check out together, and we spent the day exploring the city. We even met up with my parents for ice cream at one point. It was such a good day.

While we had a few minor hiccups along the way, the kids had a blast.

Together, we’re really trying to inject some normalcy into the boys’ lives. She’s such a fantastic mom, and she’s helping to bring balance back into our world. Currently, we’re blocking off one weekend a month to do something with the kids, and it’s been so much fun. We’ve taken quite a few day trips and explored cool places in Ohio.

The reason I’m bringing this up is that there were plenty of times over the years when I couldn’t even begin to imagine that something like this would be possible, yet here we are. Never give up hope because life has a way of working out. In our case, it’s not perfect, and we still have more challenges than most, but life has become better for all of us.

This is our story, and yours will likely be a little different but no less rewarding. We’re going to keep moving forward and setting small, realistic, obtainable goals and building from there. I’m so grateful for the life we have now.

Your family has come a long ways. I remember reading posts from the past that your boys would only eat certain foods making school lunches and trying to make dinners such a challenge, not wanting to socialize with anyone etc etc Good job Gorski family
