We don’t medicate our kids all willy-nilly

Today worked out pretty well, at least better than expected. Gavin goes to my parents every Wednesday and spends a few hours hanging out. This gives Lizze and I a reprieve from all the talking. Something had come up for today and he wasn't going to be able to go but last night, my Mom sent a text that we were still on. I knew Gavin would be excited because all week, he's been talking about how Grandma has to go out of town and he won't be able to go on Wednesday. My Mom picked Gavin up and Lizze and I took the boys to their doctors appointment. Not having to drag Gavin along, made it much easier and worked out well considering how challenging the boys ended up…

I just want the screaming to stop :(

Nothing is going as planned this morning.. Elliott and Gavin are doing pretty well and they are ready to make the trip to the immunologist in Cleveland. Emmett on the other hand, is another story completely.. Anxiety is definitely getting the better of Emmett today. He's refusing to go to school because he doesn't feel well. He says that he feels like he's going to throw up. Maybe he doesn't feel well. Maybe he's actually getting sick. Then again, maybe he's not.    What I suspect is that his stomach ache is the result of him being anxious about going to school by himself, without his big brother Elliott.  I think he's experiencing anxiety, which we all know can upset ones tummy. My son with #Autism will no longer wear shoes

I really worried about this upcoming school year for Emmett. He hasn't tolerated shoes in almost 2 months. He's been wearing flip flops, which sorta seems odd but that's all he will wear.  He has to wear shoes at school, flip flops won't cut it.  I went out and bought him water shoes yesterday which he did wear for a bit before telling me they feel funny.     The sensory issues he's been struggling with for most of his life have kicked into overdrive. At least that's how it seems. I don't know what I'm doing to do for school.  Brushing doesn't help either because I've already been trying that.  Between the bathroom and the sensory related clothing issues, I'm completely overwhelmed.
