We pulled our old fish tank out of retirement (Lots of Pictures)

We've discovered that the boys really enjoy fish. I've had fish tanks throughout my life but we stopped after Emmett was born. There wasn't really a reason for it, we just hit a point where everything had died and we didn't replace them. The last fish we had was one of those goldfish you win by tossing a ping pong ball into tiny fish bowls at the fair. Gavin one that fish when he was teeny tiny and it lived for years. It grew from half an inch to something like seven inches in length by the time it died. That fish out lived everything else in the tank and when it died, we packed it all away. Since I've recently reviewed the EcoQube C, the kids have become entranced…

Have you ever bathed a ferret?

It's been a few months since the last time we did this but it was high time to give the ferrets a bath. It's not recommended that you bathe a ferret more than a few times a year because doing so, can actually make them smell worse. Emmett and I took on the task of bathing all four of the ferrets, two at a time. Some of the ferrets really like the water and some of them don't. Lemme wanted nothing to do with it. Tiny, Zane and Charlie did quite well by comparison. The hardest and most painful part for me personally, was their claws. When they cooperated, it wasn't too bad but when they didn't want to play along, their claw ls were fucking sharp. Emmett and I…

Whatever makes him smile

Things are looking good going into another four day weekend. Yup, that's right. Another four day weekend is upon us. Lizze isn't feeling well but it's because of the weather and fibromyalgia. Thank God we don't seem to have flu or anything like that going around. I don't mean to minimize what she's going through because she's absolutely miserable. I was just clarifing that it's nothing contagious. Fibromyalgia is a bitch and it's hard to wrap your brain around something that can't be seen or quantifed. I assure you, the pain is real, even if you can see it with your eyes. The boys and I are going to bathe the ferrets tonight and clean out their pen. Emmett's super excited because we have a new shampoo to use. Whatever…

The first solid piece of good news this week

While I'm unsure of what to make in regards to Gavin labs, there is one piece of good news we know of for sure. Ruby's visit to the vet went very well. ☺ I didn't think it would go poorly but I wasn't sure how she was going to do while being poked and prodded by the vet. Little dogs can be assholes and not big fans of meeting new people. Ruby did awesome and never had to be muzzled. She's tipping the scales at a whopping 6.6 lbs. She's heartworm free and every other worm free as well. Her vaccines are up to date and we can begin planning for her surgery sometime in late March or early April. It's all good news as far as Ruby's concerned and…

Ruby goes into the vet today

We're about 110% sure that Ruby has worms. Rather than deal with it ourselves with OTC stuff from the pet store, we're just taking her in. She needs to be seen and get her shots for the year, as well as be checked out so she can get fixed next month. She just came out of being in heat and we have to wait at least 6 weeks before having her fixed. I'm really hoping she does well with the vet because tiny dogs can be difficult at times. Aside from the worms, she's doing fantastic. She's too cute for her own good but there are worse things in the world I suppose.. ☺

Ruby fell asleep on my lap

So I've found a new subject for my amateur photography hobby. Right now I'm loving taking pictures of Ruby. For one thing, she's adorable and the other is she's super cooperative. ☺ The ferrets are impossible to photograph clearly because they never stay still. I need a way better camera to capture them. Perhaps someday... ☺ Anyway, I took this one of Ruby while she was napping on my lap this afternoon.
