Kids with can show affection in amazing unique and atypical ways I always make sure or rather try to make sure that I always have fresh hardboiled eggs in the fridge for the kids to snack on. Eggs are very healthy. I've explained to the boys how they can help the body grow. The boys are very difficult to feed as a result of sensory related food proclivities and eggs are something they will all sometimes eat. The other night, I discovered this little present on my nightstand. It's from my sweet little Emmett. I guess theres a moral to this story and it goes like this. I talk to parents all the time, who share how their kids on the Autism Spectrum don't show affection in ways that other kids do. While this is true, please don't discount or overlook all the ways that our kids with Autism, show that they love us.

When the kids just can’t sleep

It's one of those nights where no one is able to sleep.  Both Emmett and Elliott are camping out in the living room. Elliott's on the giant beanbag and Emmett's on the couch.   I'm not real sure what's going on with these guys but clearly something is because it's about 1 am and only Emmett is sleeping (finally).   Once Elliott falls asleep, I will do the same but I don't like them being awake without me, especially at night.   I've been able to use this time to get some things done and that's positive.  One of the things is the official logo for this blog.  It was going on a year and I still had no official logo.  Check it out below....   I actually really like…

This is some of what Emmett did in Occupational Therapy this week Emmett had OT this week. Next week with be his first off week for the Summer. Emmett will be taking a break from PT during the Summer break. He'll be reevaluated before school starts again. The idea is to see his he maintains the progress he made during PT. If he regressed, he'll simply start back up again. It's going to be a change for him because he's used to going every single week but he'll adjust. You can see some of the activities he did during this week's OT session. He had a ton of fun and did an awesome job. OT is the greatest thing ever and I wish to God every child that needed it, was able to receive it.
