What I’ve experienced since hearing the words “I want a divorce” PT 1

If this blog is supposed to be a window into my life as a special needs parent, talking about the things that significantly impact me are crucial to maintaining the integrity of my goal here.

I want to talk about my experience over the last year and a half or so.

Sadly, getting divorced isn’t anything people even bat an eye at anymore. Divorce is so common in our society, you’re almost more likely to see your marriage in the big “D”, than you are to grow old with the person you married.

My parents are still happily married and are pushing 40 years together. That all I ever wanted for my marriage.  I’m not saying I wanted to have my parents marriage but I certainly wanted to use is as a framework for my own.

Family is everything to me, so being a father and husband is something I take very, very seriously.

My goal with this two part post, is to sorta let you see what I personally experienced, between the day my wife left and today.  This isn’t really about her or the choices she made.  This is about my personal journey and how I’m dealing with the loss of a 15 year relationship.

In the next post, I’ll share what it took for me to get to where I am today, as well as what I still need to do to get where I want to be tomorrow.
