My heart breaks for Gavin tonight

For the second night in a row, Gavin is going to bed sick to his stomach. I’m not sure what’s going on but it was so bad that he went to bed before 6:00 PM. I don’t think he’s actually sick sick but it might be autonomic in nature. These could be mini to moderate crises. They aren’t anything that will send him to the hospital but it’s enough to knock him off his feet.

When these things come around, the absolute best thing he can do is go to sleep.

Going to sleep helps his body to stabilize and when he wakes up, he’s usually better. We haven’t seen anything like this in awhile and I could totally be wrong but the symptoms do fit.

If he were to begin actually throwing up, that could trigger a more significant crisis and would likely warrant a trip to the ER. We have emergency meds to prevent him from vomiting and they usually work well. They definitely helped last night and tonight.

My heart breaks for him because one of the only times he ever seems to be aware of the potential health risks that he lives with each day, is when he feels like he’s going to puke. He knows that if he does, he may end up having to go to the hospital, and that means an IV. Out of everything he’s ever been through or could go through at any point, his biggest fear is having an IV.

I’m so thankful that he was able to fall asleep. Hopefully he’ll sleep through the night and wake up in a better place.

I wish I could take all of this away from him.. 😢
