Review: The New @NixplayCloud 9.7 Inch 2K Smart Photo Frame (W10E) is Gorgeous

There is a proprietary power cable included that plugs into the stub coming off the frame but unlike the Nixplay Iris, the other end plugs directly into the wall.

Personally, I don’t like this type of power delivery and prefer the USB version found on previous models. This allows you to take the frame on the road and power it with an external battery. It’s not a deal-breaker but I really hope they go back to the USB design. This is my only complaint about this new frame.

As far as the power cord itself goes, it’s pretty long which means you don’t have to be sitting on top of an outlet.

As there are no buttons on the frame, it’s controlled from the app or the included remote control. The remote works very well and is a very convenient way to skip pictures or edit the settings. This brings me to another cool feature. This remote is magnetic and can attach to the back of the frame for easy storage.

I love this simple upgrade from the previous frame I reviewed. These remotes are pretty small and easy to lose. Being able to stick it to the back of the frame or even on the refrigerator is super convenient and I like it.

Of course, you have much greater control from the Nixplay app itself, but it’s always nice to have options.

This is a Smart Frame which means that the frame connects to your wifi and displays pictures from the cloud. You can connect it to services like Google Photos, Facebook, Dropbox, and Instagram. There is no option for external media and I’m okay with that.

I have my phone set up to automatically back up every photo I take to Google Photos. As soon as they upload, they begin to display on the frame. It’s really cool. People can also send pictures remotely as well.

Let’s say that your Grandma and Grandpa live out of town and you don’t get to see them often enough. If they have this frame, everyone in the family could share pictures with them via the frame, and they can have a constant stream of new photos to brighten their day.

How cool is that? Of course, it’s very cool. That was totally a rhetorical question.

I think that technology like this can help us stay close and stay connected with loved ones. Being able to share frozen moments in time, or even short video clips without having to jump on social media is a great thing. There’s something really uplifting about that.

I really, really enjoy the Nixplay Smart Photo Frame and I can’t recommend it enough. You can find out more about it, and purchase one for yourself, or someone you love by visiting Nixplay.
