After 25 years of raising three autistic sons, I'm done debating whether April is Autism Awareness Month or Autism Acceptance Month. While we argue over names and symbols, autism research has been cut by 26%, families are losing therapy services overnight, and Medicaid is being gutted. It's time to stop debating and start demanding. This April, I'm calling it Autism Action Month - because without action, awareness and acceptance are just words.
