Gavin is driving me crazy. There I said it. He’s talking constantly and I think that my head might actually explode. I have grown to completely hate Sonic the Hedgehog and every single mention of his name.

Anymore, this is all he ever talks about.

I totally realize that Sonic is something really important to Gavin. Having said that, I can only take so much. I miss being able to talk with him about other things. He’s become consumed with Sonic and it influences just about every aspect of his life.

It’s made worse by the fact that the other two boys try to be just like their big brother. They like what he likes and talk about the things that he likes to talk about. It’s like being annoyed in surround sound.

Sure, I know it sounds bad but there is only so much that any one person can take. Right now, I don’t care if they talk about Pokemon again, I just need a break from drowning in everything Sonic the friggin Hedgehog.

We went through a Sonic phase, have all things Sonic, and now he has moved on to Team Fortress 2. Thank god he isn’t old enough to get tattoos. He gets so attached to things for months to years at a time.

Maybe you need to do some sort of family wide intervention to get them all hooked on something else for a week or so.. Is it possible to make Sonic the Hedgehog ever seem uncool to Gavin? I can understand how you can hate Sonic after awhile.. My kids are driving me crazy with the computer and this Plants Vs. Zombies game. They either have to watch youtube videos of people playing it or play the game 24/7, and then scream bloody murder when I try to  shut down the computer (so we can do normal human things like bath, eat, go to bed.). My oldest is grounded from electronics for the week and is OCD now about trying to turn the TV on and watch it every second I walk out of the room. ugh.

I totally get this.  My son has been doing this for the last couple of weeks as well.  It gets better and worse and I am not sure what the trigger is but, today was so bad I just wanted to start humming while he talked or go lock myself in a room.

Um do my kids ever drive me crazy? YES daily! On a few occasions my son has been known to talk for 30-45 minutes straight in the car. My daughter used to do it too from the ages of 3-5. I perfected the uh-huh, yeah, wow, that’s great and repeat conversation. Sometimes I am brave enough to go grocery shopping with all of them like tonight including my hubs. OMGness! By the time we hit the register 30 minutes later he looked at me and said he now understands. With all of the sensory overload from the store my son was verbal stimming on the 7 minute drive home and my sensory sensitive daughter was crawling into her seat trying to get away from the noise. Did I mention the fire alarm went off while we were there. That was just the last 2 hours of my day. I think all parents are driven crazy by their children at some point but some of us are blessed with an endless supply of crazy where the only thing we can do is shake our heads or laugh
