Rewarding Gavin for good behavior

Today I've decided that even though, generally speaking, Gavin does not do good with positive reinforcement, I was going to let him play Lego Batman for a little while.  While Gavin's moving at the speed of light, he's not  misbehaving or really doing anything that needs to be addressed. Elliott's out with my sister, Emmett sleeping on the couch and I figured that letting Gavin have some time playing a benign game like Lego Batman on the computer, wouldn't hurt anything.  I let him play for about 30 minutes and then we shut it off and he went back to drawing.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me…

Wish Elliott Luck…..

Elliott will be running/walking in a 2 mile race at 8am tomorrow.  He's so excited and has definitely been bitten by the marathon bug. He's going to be running this marathon with my sister Jenn. They went today to pick up their packets and Elliott got his race shirt and bib. We're only gonna be gone for about an hour but I think this is a hugely constructive outlet for him and I'm so glad my sister is doing this with him.  Of course I'll be taking lots of pictures and I promise to share.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

This is a “not able to get out of bed” kinda day

Lizze is not having a very good day.  She's in a great deal of pain and also very, very fatigued. She literally cannot stay awake. She suffers from Fibromyalgia and all that goes along with it.  The weather here in Ohio has been mostly rain lately and the change in barometric pressure seems to really aggravate her symptoms.  I always thought it was just the rain but I've been educated by many people with Fibromyalgia and they explained that it's actually the change in barometric pressure.  Anyway, this is kicking her butt and my heart is breaking for her. She has tried to get up and come downstairs but falls asleep so I just sent her back to bed.  I appreciate the effort but it's sorta frustrating for me if…

Emmett pimped out his 3DS, all by himself

Emmett used some of the stickers he got for his birthday to pimp out his 3DS.  Apparently it was getting a bit boring and needed a makeover.  He's super proud of it and I of him.  However, he's now in the mood to pimp everything out with his stickers.  Hey, as long as he's happy and he stays away from the TV, I'm okay with him improving the appearance of a few things around the house.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

Slow down speed racer, slow down before you hurt yourself

Today is one of those days that I have to watch Gavin very closely, so that he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else. He's having a very fast paced day thus far.  Lately, Gavin's really been struggling with the whole concept of slowing down. He's doing everything at hyperspeed and quite often hurts himself in the process. He can also inadvertently hurts others as well. It's likely part of being manic but he's has a natural tendency to be a little speed racer.  When he's in one of these speed racer places, he becomes more clumsy and is more likely to trip over his own feet and drop everything he picks up. He's hurt himself already today because he's moving too fast.  It's exhausting to have to constantly tell my…
