Manic Monday begins with hot flashes

Lizze was up most of the night with hot flashes.  Form my perspective, the estrogen patch doesn't seem to be helping much.  She's exhausted and miserable.  At least Emmett's in a better place at the moment and so life is a bit more manageable than its been the last few days.  Lizze is trying to sleep right now and I'm trying to get some work done but failing miserably.  The boys need my attention and Gavin needs constant supervision. I have to call Emmett's doctor and try again to reach John's Hopkins for Gavin.  I'll have to do that when Lizze wakes up, so that I can hide upstairs in our bedroom, where it's quiet. Steroids are working

Emmett's on his 3rd dose of prednisone today and all signs point to him feeling better.  Typically, when we employed prednisone in the past, it's significantly shortened the length or duration of the flare.  Visually, the sores are reduced in size and appear to be going away.  Unfortunately, while prednisone works well to diminish the flares and mouth sores, long term use is very dangerous.  Prednisone and destroy your joints as well as suppress ones immune system. This is not a weapon that we can bring to these battles very often.  For now, Emmett seems to be in a better place.  He talking better and not complaining constantly of his mouth and throat hurting.  This is a positive way to begin the day. Today’s #Autism Victory: Folding Clothes

I meant to share this the other day but better late than never.  Right? Friday night I was putting Emmett and Elliott to bed.  Emmett decided that he wanted to make sure his clothes, which he had just put on, we're folded nicely and ready to go in the morning.  He did this completely on his own and without any prompting.  He did such a good job that I had to share and acknowledge his accomplishments.  Great job Emmett, Daddy is sooooo proud of you.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

The things we do to get our kids to take their medicine

Emmett's got to take some rather foul tasting medicine in order to help him make it through this particular fever flare.  Even though it helps with the pain, he hasn't made the connection that taking the meds make him feel better. We've offered all kinds of things to get him to take his meds.  Nothing works because he knows how bad it tastes.  We can't even hide it in applesauce or ice cream. I told Emmett that if he took his meds that we could squishy couch. For those new to this site or don't remember the famous squishy couch, let me remind you.  Basically, I push our two couches together to make them one big bed and we camp out.  We watch movies and snuggle.  Long story short, it…
