Today was going so well and now it's been flush down the proverbial toilet. In yet another epic parenting fail, AEP has come out to shut us off due to my inability to keep up with the bill.  This is my fault and I'm working really hard to address these problems.  To AEP's credit, the technician that has come out to shut us off was very nice and treated us with respect.  I appreciate that. I just got a call from the Cleveland Clinic.  They've bumped Gavin's appointment, to see Dr. Moodley, up to Thursday of this week. It was originally scheduled for later this month.  This is in response to his recent hospitalization. Dr.  Moodley will likely remain the point man for Gavin's condition, but he wants us to be seen by John's Hopkins ASAP. I imagine that we will discuss this in more detail on Thursday. However, as I'm writing this, I'm realizing that this appointment might now work out because we still have to get the tire replaced on the van. The moment has finally arrived and I haven't cried yet.  Let me start at the beginning.  Today was the first day of school for the Gorski clan.  This wasn't just the typical return of the school year either. This morning marked the beginning of a new journey for all of us.  For the very first time ever, all three of our boys will be in school, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. This is a really big change for all of us but one that ushers in a new era of possibility for both Lizze and myself. For the first time in 10 years, we finally have a break. When we ended the previous school year earlier this summer, we were in the middle of a very unpleasant investigation by Child Protective Services, in response to a spite call. Over summer vacation, we were able to put that behind us. Later on this morning, I will be sending my kids off to their first day of school.  Some will be returning, while another will be going for the very first time. There will be tears falling from my eyes while I'm crying like a baby, as I watch my youngest leave the nest and begin to spread his little wings. At the same time, we will be celebrating another major milestone in our lives. It was on the 3rd of September, 2003, that I married my best friend. Lizze and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. I'm on the verge of losing my mind.  The boys are driving me completely crazy.  Elliott and Emmett are literally all over the place.  Neither one of them are listening and I have grown to hate the sound of my own voice. Gavin on the other hand just informed that his heart rate monitor watch is broken.  Why is it broken you ask? Remember that birthday party that Lizze and I let him go to this past weekend, against our better judgment? It turns out that he spent some time running over and over again, into a brick wall.  Smashing into the wall, cracked the screen and damaged the display.  Now only half of the display works and it no longer works to check his heart right.  We are going…

I was talking about this on Facebook the other day but I wanted to go into more detail here. This is one of those topics that you are either going to agree with or not.  As a special needs parent, I believe very strongly in advocating for my children with Autism and other medical challenges. I feel like it's my responsibility to speak for my children, until such a time they can speak for themselves.  I've been heavily criticized for this opinion but that hasn't deterred me from going what I feel in my heart is right.
