Maintaining hope

Lizze is in a really bad place.  These hot flashes are keeping her up all night and a bit irritable during the day.  She's even losing her hair still.  She has to take these massive, prescription doses of vitamin D because her levels are so dangerously low.  The last two days, she's really struggled to stay out of bed due to exhaustion, pain and nausea.  It's awful and aside for letting her sleep through life, there's nothing I can do to help her. A big problem with letting her sleep for so long is her history of blood clots.  Immobility is her worst enemy right now.  She hasn't had to use her cane in awhile but personally, I sorta feel like that's more because she hates using it and less…

Therapy for kids with Autism, shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right

In the last day or so alone, Emmett has fallen almost half a dozen times.  He's fallen up the stairs and down the stairs.  He tripping over his own feet and doesn't brace himself for impact, if that makes sense.. One of the things that OT was helping with was this sorta of stuff.  He was working on his coordination and strength.  While he was receiving OT, he was doing much, much better.  Unfortunately, insurance deemed that he would never make any progress and so they cut him off.  Since that time, he's been falling more and more often.  We have to get him in for a reevaluation and see if we can get him covered once again. Therapy for kids with Autism, shouldn't be a privilege, it should be…

Pizza for breakfast

It's already that kind of morning.  The kind of morning  where we decided breakfast based on the dishes that are already clean. In our case this morning, the verdict is leftover pizza from last night.  Sometimes it's about simple.... What have you served for breakfast that's not traditional? Should a blogger carry business cards?

It never fails.  I'll be out and about, when I run into someone and the topic of Autism comes up.  Sometimes, they will see my Lost and Tired, Autism Awareness shirt and it sparks a conversation. When the topic of my blog comes up, they almost always ask if I have a business card, to which I reply, "no". My question to you all is this.  Should I, as a blogger, have business cards made up? I suppose it would make sense to do that, I just have never had any made. What do you folks think? Improving the lives of others

Improving the lives of others. Even if others is a Russian Tortoise. The boys spent some time decorating the turtle table today. They went out and picked tons of dandelions and added them to the enclosure.  Thankfully, they have an endless supply in our yard. I think it's great that they are trying to improve the turtles environment. They did a great job and the turtle loves dandelions.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Another day another problem

Gavin's teachers are taking note of things that happen while he's at school.  They aren't doing this every day and I need to ask about that because it needs to be done every day.  Anyway, this is a snapshot of what went on Wednesday morning.  Gavin's issues tend to revolve around frustration, sleepiness, chest pain or stomach cramps.  It's tough to know what's real and what's manipulation to get out of doing something.  However, I think in general, the health related issues are legit and that's concerning because in a given day, he's sleeping, experiencing chest pain or his stomach hurts.  Dammit.. I wish I knew what to do.... This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos…

The lighter side of #Autism: Downtime

Elliott spent some downtime today with his kitten Gresha...  They just snuggled on the couch and watched Netflix. It was nice to see him relaxed and enjoying himself.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. So much for resting and getting better

Lizze is now officially out of commission and I'm still sick and on my own. :-( Lizze is in a really bad place.  This is more like a nervous breakdown and one that's been coming on for awhile.  With her hormones completely out of whack, who the hell knows what's going on.  All I know is that my heart is breaking for her and there isn't anything that I can do right now, especially while I'm sick. :-( We have to try and compartmentalize as much as possible so that the boys don't destabilize.  With that in mind, I offered the let Lizze go to bed and I would just take care of everything.  Looks like pizza for dinner is all I'm going to have the energy to do.  The…
