Emmett’s Education: progress

I have had several conversations now with people from the school district.  I have to be honest and say that they have all been very pleasant and positive.

Basically,  I think this comes down to Emmett’s needs and the ability to provide for them.

If they can’t provide for Emmett’s needs than we find somewhere that can.  I think that pretty simple….in theory anyway…  Haven’t worked out the logistics.

I do want to thank the school system for not just blowing us off.

I also want to say that if we want the school systems to improve,  we need to work together towards that end.  They need better funding on the federal, state and local level.  Schools need to be more of a priority and the teachers need better support and better pay.

At the end of the day,  the teachers can only do so much.  We as parents have to play the educator role to our children as well.

I think being a special needs parent gives you a very unique perspective as we more often,  have to be fighting for our children’s right to learn.

Just my thoughts 😉
