Daddy, can I come with you?

Daddy,  can I come with you?  How many times do we here that in the course of the day?  Please note that you can insert Mommy into that as well.  I didn’t forget any of you amazing mothers out there 🙂

I hear this question countless times a day.  Majority of the time it’s Emmett asking me the question.

Anytime I go to the store,  Emmett always asks if he can come with me.  Other times,  when the whole Lost and Tired family is in the car and all I have to do is run into the store for a prescription,  he wants to come as well.  It will literally take 2 minutes to run in and out.  By the time I get him out of his car seat,  navigate the store with him wanting everything he sees,  get what I need and get him back in the car seat,  it’s taken 10 times as long.

It’s frustrating, because many times I’m so tired and the last thing I want to do is drag this out anymore than I have to.

If I don’t take him with me,  he gets really upset and cries.

Nine times out of ten,  I’ll take him with me.  All he wants to do is spend time with me.  It not like it takes anymore than a bit of extra time and energy on my part.

As tired as I am,  I really think it’s important to take advantage of the time I have with him,  especially while he’s young and want to spend it with me.  On the days that I really don’t feel like bringing him along,  I remind myself that someday,  I wish I could go back to that moment and say,  yes Emmett,  of course you can come with me.
