I wanted to share something that I’m really, very proud of.  Emmett, is continuing to make strides towards independence, even at 4 years of age.

Emmett has become quite determined to do things on his own.

In general, this is a really good thing. Practically speaking, we can allow him to do some of what he wants to do, on his own. Some things are simply too dangerous.

Even so, we try to find a balance between us helping him and him doing things independently.  In the pictures below, I was told, by Emmett, that he wanted to setup his toothbrush, all by himself.  I was happy to oblige.

He did a really good job.

Seeing the look on his face when he succeeded was absolutely priceless. Seeking how clean his teeth were, after he brushed them himself, gives me hope for the future.
