Elliott wrote this letter the other night and when I found it, my heart just broke.
The letter read:
“I miss Gavin because Gavin is not home”
It’s so difficult because doing the right thing is also causing Elliott pain. While Gavin is home now, I don’t know how long we can keep that up.
I can totally relate. Caleb drew a picture with a heart and a crack down the middle of it. I talked to him about it and he said his heart is cracked cause Serenity is not home. 🙁 I brought it up at an IEP meeting that happened a few days later and the teachers weren't aware of the picture so I showed it to them. I told them I needed their help in helping Caleb talk about his feelings and his sister (His teacher and TA know Serenity pretty well as they taught her in homebound for a while). We make sure he is a part of doing things for her, especially when she comes home occasionally.
I can relate. It's actually really good that they are drawing pictures. Hang in there. 🙂
