I just want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Elliott Richard.  He took his pill tonight and did a fantastic job doing so.  This is the equation for success: Tiny Pill + Chocolate Pudding = Happy Elliott.  I'm really proud of him.  I would also like to thank Giant Eagle for having pudding on sale at 4 packs for $1. :-)

I just returned from the store and was reminded of just how challenging having a child with #Autism and food allergies is.  Elliott, my 6 year old prince with aspergers, has been diagnosed with tree nut allergies.  This has thrown our grocery shopping into a tailspin. Elliott was a picky eater before the allergies were discovered.  He has a host of sensory issues and is very sensitive to things like color, taste, smell and texture.  We have now had to eliminate a huge amount of things that he would actually eat because they contain ingredients that that pose a serious health hazard.  Getting Elliott to eat now is like trying to get our dogs to do chores around the house, a pipe dream.  We have to give him PediaSure every…

The Game Cube crisis has been averted. I was chatting with my friend Chloe last night and she suggested checking the Google Play store.  I can't believe that I hadn't thought of that before.  On Chloe's suggestion, I checked the Play Store and sure enough, I found Super Monkey Ball 2. I downloaded it and Elliott was in 7th heaven. He's just as happy with Super Monkey Ball 2 on his tablet. . Thanks Chloe...  :-)

The boys are at each others throats today.  It's like no one is capable of sharing and they each want what the other has.  I actually found myself saying, can't we all just get along?

What does it mean to make progress?? That's a pretty good question and one not easily answered. With everything the Lost and Tired family has been enduring for so long, it sometimes feels like we never make any progress. For me personally, it's frustrating and overwhelming to feel like we are just spinning our wheels.  Over the past few days, I've come to realize something. Progress is a relative term and can mean something different for everyone.  Much the same way that autism is different for everyone.  I think that I sometimes have my expectations set a little bit too high.  I want to see us moving forward at a faster pace because we have so much ground to make up. Have you ever wanted to turn your kid into a cartoon? Me neither.  However, I stumbled across this app while browsing the Google Play store.  It's called Cartoon Camera and it basically does what you think it would do. It takes pictures and produces a cartoonish effect. I don't usually play with these types of apps but I was in the mood to experiment and Emmett thought it was really funny.  If he thinks it's funny than it makes me happy.  I love to hear him laugh.  :-)

Tonight we experienced world war 3, while trying to get Elliott to take his bedtime medications. These consist of melatonin and his new anti-depressant. Both pills are very small.  Elliott has no problem physically swallowing the pills.  The problem however,  has more to do with simply not liking the idea of taking the medication. I think, at least in Elliott's case, there is a huge element of control.  Think about it.  As an adult, we try to control as much of our lives as possible, especially when much of our life is outside of our control.  Imagine what it must feel like for a small child with #Autism.  I completely understand where he's coming from and I actually support it.  I just can't support it when it comes to something…
