I mentioned the other day that we are working to make the bathroom less scary for the two E's.  We are doing so by decorating the closet door with their artwork.  That's how it got started anyway.  The boys wanted to decorate the rest of the bathroom and have done so with great pleasure.  As you can see, there are now pictures everywhere.  There are actually more pictures now because this is an older picture.  The way I see it, if it makes them feel better than who am I to say no? Generally speaking, Gavin is the kind of kid that seems to really struggle most of the time.  Whether it's a behavioral issue or something related to his health, more often than not, he's having a rougher daybreak most other people.  Having said that, Gavin is doing really well today.  He's building with Legos (since the other boys aren't home) and watching his favorite shows on Netflix.  As a single child, Gavin is vastly different.  It's when other children are around that he becomes much more difficult.  For right now though, he has our undivided attention and no other kids to worry about.  He's having an awesome day.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My…

Lizze still hasn't been to bed yet.  These hot flashes are keeping her from sleeping.  She has a sleep disorder called hypersomnia and that essentially means that her body requires 12-15 hours of sleep, in order to be rested. The hot flashes associated with her early menopause are preventing her from sleeping.  She wakes up drenched in sweat, extremely uncomfortable and unable to go back to sleep. Lizze and I will be married for 10 years this September. Over the years her health has gone downhill and she spends most of her time in tremendous amounts of pain and misery. With Elliott and Emmett at their grandparents, I wanted to seize the moment.  I managed to drag Lizze out to Stadium Park for a very short hike.  We were accompanied by Gavin, who was quite excited to go.  Basically, this was a stroll on the track and a brief excursion down a wooded path to an abandoned guard station.  Lizze has been wanting to take pictures of the old guard house that used to be part of the Timken Family estate. Today was a very artsy kinda day.  Everyone was drawing, creating and having fun. Emmett really surprised me with his work today.  He drew Phineas and Ferb along with Perry the Platypus, from memory.  For a kid that just turned 5 years old, I think this is pretty friggin good. Sleep and I have a rather love/hate relationship.  I love to sleep and sleep hates letting me. Lizze and I are down two kids tonight and I should be taking full advantage of this time to rest.  Unfortunately, my brain is working and simply won't stop thinking about everything I have to worry about.  How messed up is that? I get a break but I can't get the rest I need to be better able to parent my kids when they get home, inevitably overstimulated. I've thought about just running into the wall, over and over again, until I'm unconscious. However, that would likely cause more problems than its worth. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of stupidity and that would be pretty stupid.  Alright, I'm going to try one…
