My kids had to learn about Trumps attempted coup in school today

We've made it through the first week back at school and we're doing pretty awesome. Emmett is completely current as is Elliott. This has been a challenge for autistic kids in regards to remote learning. I've spoken with tons of parents dealing with the same or worse. Lots of kids don't even show up to class every day. I I feel pretty good at this moment in time because the boys are adjusting to the change, finally. It's only taken half a school year but we have made progress. That's a positive thing and I'm crazy proud. We had a rough day yesterday because you know, an army of stupid Trump supports literally laid siege on the Capitol Building, in a attempted coup. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and spoke my mind because it matters

I've said this before and while it may not appear this way on the surface, I'm way too self-conscious to enjoy appearing on TV. That said, I've been doing it anyway because some things are more important than my comfort level. I will continue to do so when the opportunity presents itself because I want to make a difference and do my part. Today was one of those days. I want to take a few minutes and explain why I'm doing what I'm doing and the purpose behind it. To Whom This May Concern We are living in a time where taking a stand matters. I'm a single Dad with 3 amazing autistic kids. My son is immunocompromised, and you better believe that I will use my platform to advocate for anything that will help keep him and others…

My thoughts on this scary new world we find ourselves in

I'm writing this entry, not as an Autism Dad but rather a human being. I've been very closely following all that's been going on since the shocking conclusion of last year's election. Like the majority of the country, I'm greatly concerned about the rather dramatic shift our homeland has taken. Hate crimes are on the rise and we are judging people based solely on ethnicity or race. Many women are worried about losing rights over their own bodies. I won't criticize anyone who actually took themselves to the polls and voted, regardless of who they voted for. I commend everyone that exercised their right to vote for our country's commander in chief. While my candidate didn't win, I respect the process and I respect the office. Without sharing too much…
