Off to a good start

Emmett and I got Elliott off to school with no problem. All the stars aligned this morning and I had a level of cooperation that I rarely ever see. I'm super proud of them. :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Operation Crush the Migraine Begins

Lizze has begun her headache infusion and now we will simply have to wait and see if it works.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She can use any and all positive thoughts. Living on the edge

This is a pretty big week for the Lost and Tired family. Lizze has her migraine infusion for the first half of the week and I'll have the boys.  We're really feeling the pressure in many areas of our lives right now. Most of that pressure are things outside of our control. In a lot of ways, that sorta makes it worse, at least for me.  By nature, I'm a fixer and when I can't fix things, I really stress out.  Right now, the focus is on the immediate things, like Lizze's headache infusion. At this exact moment in time, this is really all we can do.  If the procedure works, that will be a huge win for both Lizze and the rest of us. This migraine has really incapacitated…

What would you do to be free from pain?

In the morning, Lizze will be undergoing a procedure called a headache infusion. This is basically only done in extreme cases where conventional medication can't control or break a migraine.  This will be Lizze's 3rd time going through this in the last 2 years.  You may recall that she has been suffering from a migraine that has lasted over 13 months now. This procedure is done over a period of 3 days.  Lizze will be hooked up to an IV and fed a steady stream of narcotics and migraine medications.  This procedure lasts for 6 hours each day for a total of 18 hours at the end of the 3rd day.  In the past, this has successfully broken her migraine. The last time she had this done was about a…

The best bad parenting idea I’ve had in awhile

I found these at the store yesterday. I didn't buy them but I was sorta tempted.  When I saw them, the first thing that popped into my head was all the fighting my kids do.  I was tempted to pick these up so that the boys could settle these disagreements once and for all.  It's totally wishful thinking, I know.....and probably really,  really bad parenting as well. It's just that get so sick of hearing them fighting all the time.  These look like a fun way of getting out some aggression. This is probably the best bad parenting idea I've had in awhile.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Buying socks for. You kids with #Autism is always an adventure.

On Saturday we took the boys to Target so they could pick out new socks.  For most families this would be a walk in the park. However, for a family with autistic kids this can be a much more complicated process. The reason it's difficult for my family has to do with the numerous sensory issues my kids struggle with. The most serious of which is Emmett.  Emmett is extremely sensitive to the feel of clothes on his skin.  One of the most challenging of these sensitivities revolve around socks.   It only do they have to match but they have to fit very tight and never fall down. Finding just the right socks for each of our boys is next to impossible... This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy…

My “emergency” wake up call

Emmett woke me up this morning saying he had an emergency. I bounced out of bed as fast as my overweight body would allow and asked him what was wrong. He said,  "Daddy, we forgot to make banana ice cream last night".  He had actually woken me from a bad dream and so I was a bit disoriented.  However, even with my brain not firing on all cylinders, I knew that didn't qualify as an emergency,  at least in my opinion. I'm gonna have to have a talk with Emmett about what is an emergency and what isn't.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. #Autism and the importance of “guy time”

Today I took my 4 years old with autism,  Emmett, out to lunch.  There's a really cheap Chinese place around the corner and they have a lunch buffet. One of Emmett’s most favorite things in the word is Chinese food and he's been asking to go at least once a day for awhile now.  I finally got paid today and so I thought I would surprise him with a trip to the Chinese buffet. He was so excited and kept asking when it would be time to go.  :-) I really think it's important for me to spend as much time with him as I can. He's going through a time in his young life that he really needs some guy time. Emmett and I are pretty much with each…
