We’re starting to see more aggression

Elliott is becoming more aggressive when he gets angry. I'm really starting to wonder if his antidepressant is behind this change in behavior. He was showing some of this behavior already. However, it seems to have gotten worse as of late. I'm really concerned about this change or rather increase in behavior. Today’s #Autism Victory: Accepting Change

As you know from yesterday's discussions, Emmett needs glasses. One of our concerns was that he would never wear them. Emmett has quite a few sensory related issues. However to my surprise and amazement, Emmett has accepted that glasses will be a part of his life. Great job Emmett, Mom. You and Daddy are so proud of you. The Next Big Thing in #Autism Tech is Already Here

Those of to you that know me know that I'm a huge proponent for using technology to aide in improving the lives of children and adults on the autism spectrum. There are so many different pieces of technology to choose from and I have found that some things work better than others. However, I personally find that as far as tablet technology goes, android based devices are vastly superior to things like the iPad by Apple. Do t get me wrong, the iPad is a great device but it's very overpriced and doesn't allow for user customization. Do you ever feel like a failure?

Today was one of those days when we get news about one of our kids that really makes us feel like an epic failure. I mentioned earlier that Emmett was going to be at Akron Children's Hospital today for an eye exam. We've been noticing that he seems to have trouble with his vision and so we wanted to get him in. Turns out that his vision is really, really bad. His right eye sees 20/200 and his left eye sees 20/80. This means that his right eye sees things at 20 feet away as though they are 200 feet away. His left eye sees things at 20 feet away as though they 80 feet away. Obviously he has a Stigmatism and I believe they said near sighted. He can…

Let’s talk #Autism facts

I wanted to compile a list of #Autism facts as you see them, through your eyes. We all know what the doctors say. We all know what the big autism organizations say. However, in my opinion, we need to hear what the people in the trenches have to say. We need to listen to the parents as well as teenage and adult autistics that have been trying to speak but no one ever listens to. #Autism and the Eye Appointment

We will be at Akron Children's Hospital today. This time it's for Emmett's eyes. He's been having trouble seeing, especially out of his right eye. I have no idea how this is going to go because Emmett's in a mood today. I'm pretty sure Emmett's going to need glasses and I'm definitely not sure how that's going to go.
