We might be approaching the end of the road

This fever flare is driving me nuts. I know it's worse for Emmett but I'm still having a really hard time getting him to eat anything. He's had a bit of yogurt, some pudding and I just got him to eat some brown rice. The brown rice was a pretty big surprise actually. The problem is that he's not eating much and there's very little that we can pack in his school lunch and be sure he'll eat any of it. He's not being picky, he's just in a tremendous amount of pain. He's getting a new sore on his cheek and that's probably what's keeping him from eating now. He's been complaining about it today. Thankfully, that's one of the only new sore he's presented with for a couple…

That doesn’t Bode well for the rest of us either

I totally thought Emmett there was a real chance that Emmett would be returning to school this morning. He seemed to be doing better-ish last night and I felt a surge of hope that this flare might be coming to an end. Unfortunately, Emmett woke up about 4 AM and was sobbing as he climbed into bed next to me. All I could get out of him was that his the sores in his mouth were throbbing. Apparently, he isn't doing even a little bit better. I I'm absolutely exhausted but I'm trying to make sure Emmett is as comfortable as possible so he could hopefully go back to sleep. It's going to be an extremely long day for all of us because he's miserable and that doesn't bode well…

Emmett’s school year might be cut short

We received a call from Lizze's Mom because Emmett was complaining of a sore throat. I think he was possibly looking to come home, but they were able to redirect him and he decided to stay, from what I understand.  For the last few days, I've been monitoring his temperature. I have a bad feeling, and I think he may be hitting another fever cycle. His joints have been hot and he's been acting a little funny.  If he is entering into a new fever cycle, he will very likely miss the rest of the school year.  I'm concerned because if this does prove true, these cycles are very close together, and the sore throat is a new symptom.  I'm really hoping that he feels better in the morning...

Barely surviving the worst fever cycle ever

We've made it to the end of the week, and what a week it's been.  This week has brought with it a few firsts, and they have proven to be very challenging. Emmett began and is still inside of his worst fever cycle ever. We're at the seven day mark and he's still running enough of a fever to keep him out of school.  I really don't know when this cycle is going to stop, but they historically last about ten days. Having said that, there have been a few over the years that lasted every bit of twenty one days.  Lizze and I both love Emmett but we need him to go back to school.  I'm burnt the fuck out, and need a day or two without a kid…
