It’s gonna be one those days

Do you ever wake up and within a very short amount of time, you realize it's gonna be one of those days? I had to run to Walgreens to get Gavin's prescriptions.  As I open the window to our rental car to speak to the pharmacist,  all the snow that had been on the roof decided to fall at that very moment. The drivers side of the car was covered.  Snow piled on my lap and filled the floor board as well as the inside door panel. It was quite a shock because was most definitely not expecting that to happen. I'm pretty sure that it's gonna be one of those days. Posted from WordPress for Android

I do my best to make lostandtired.com easily accessible from anywhere. As a big step forward for my blog and spreading Autism Awareness, I'm excited to announce that I can now be found on Google Currents. In their own words…

On January 19,2012 our van was stolen, right in front of us. The boys we're watching out the front window as it happened and I was literally 10-15 feet away. They have been profoundly affected by this event, Gavin more so than the others. He spent a lot of time crying and hardly spoke a word the entire day. Elliott is much more anxious than usual and Emmett wants his black car seat back. I do my best to reassure them and at this point, that's all I can do. Lizze and I are obviously upset and stressed out about this situation because if the van gets totaled out, we'll be left with nothing. To say that this is problem is like calling the ocean a puddle. We have an…

Stealing from a special needs family: update 2

We received a rental car and can use it until the van thing is settled,  which should be next week. I very specifically requested a van but instead got a brand new Lincoln Town Card Limited.  Are you kidding me? What part of 3 special needs kids don't they get? I don't even want to sit in this thing.  I don't even want it parked outside of my house. If they were willing to steal our crappy van,  I doubt they'll hesitate to go after this. I'm totally grateful for the rental and don't mean to sound otherwise but really? They apparently were out of more appropriate transportation,  so this is what we get. Sigh..... Stealing from a special needs family: update 1

I went and saw the van at the dealership.  I not in a very good mood at the moment as things aren't looking very good. I had this all written earlier and WordPress crashed now I have to do this again. So this will be short and sweet.  Basically,  the repairs to the van are over $2,000 at this point and may or may not increase from there.  Once they get the van started and into the bay,  they'll have a final number for us. So far this is what needs done: All the doors need disassembled and the locks replaced. There is some body work that needs done. Keyless entry needs completely replaced and the driver side keypad needs replaced or reprogrammed. The ignition needs replaced. Both car seats…

All is well

The Lost and Tired family met dawn this morning,  after a night without incident.  The last time I remember looking at my phone it was approaching 4am. Sleep over came me sometime after that. I did my best and luckily,  last night, my best was just enough. Thank you everyone for all the love and support. It means a great deal.  :-) Posted from WordPress for Android

Night Shift

I told Lizze that I would stand guard tonight. I'm hoping that she will feel safe enough to sleep.  My Netflix queue is full and I replaced the deadbolts on the house.  I also replaced the front light with brighter bulbs.  Gavin and Elliott are at the grandparents tonight so it's just the three of us.  Maggie and I are watching Netflix and maybe playing Skyrim for a while. I just have to keep letting her outside because of her bladder infection.  She's leaking right now until she gets to the vet. It's gonna be a really long night. I probably couldn't sleep anyways,  I'm a bit preoccupied with these guys still having the keys to our house.  Even though the locks are new,  I don't like that they think…

Today’s Victory: 01/19/2012

Today has been one of the worst days in Lost and Tired family history.  We've had bad days but this affected the whole family in a profound way,  especially the boys. So,  in an effort to be positive and move forward I'm awarding a Today's Victory. Today's Victory is being awarded to Lizze,  Gavin,  Elliott and Emmett.. Despite everyone's fear,  overstimulation and anxiety, we didn't kill each other and we will live to see another day. Sometimes that, in and of itself is victory and after a day like today,  I'll proudly stick that in the win column. In the picture below, Gavin worked together,  very patiently with Elliott, to help him play through Mario Brothers on Elliott’s broken DSi.  The DSi is crashing and making Elliott start over.  Gavin…
