The road of life

Sometimes it's easy to get swept up by the raging tides and forget about just how beautiful the ocean can be. The same thing cannot be said about Autism. In my own personal situation with the Lost and Tired family,  I find myself failing to see the beauty behind the challenge. It's so easy for me to get overwhelmed by all the challenges we face,  day in and day out.  Honestly,  the weight or responsibility and be absolutely crushing at times. So many times,  I'm asked how I manage. I never really know what to say to that question. In truth,  I really don't know. However,  after thinking about this for some time,  I have come to have a better understanding of how and why I keep going. While the…

Does anything ever go as planned?

Very few things ever seem to go as expected.  Lizze's PT today was a bust because of a few reasons but basically the prescription was not right. Hopefully this will get straightened out soon so she can reschedule. It sucks when you mentally prepare for something,  only to have it fall through at the last minute. Sigh.......?? Physical Therapy

Lizze has physical therapy this morning.  She had a really rough day yesterday so I hope she does ok with this today. The physical therapy is for her migraines I believe.  It's kind of a last ditch effort to help prevent them. I could be totally wrong on this one though.  Everything kinda blends together after awhile.  Maybe it's for the fibromyalgia?  Either way,  I think it's a great way to start the week,  albeit,  a painful one. I'm really proud of her for not giving up and continuing to push through the pain.   Awesome job honey,  what a fine example you are setting for the boys :-) Posted from WordPress for Android

Keeping in touch

A few months ago my little sister moved out to the Hampton's .  She took a job as a physical therapist after finishing her doctorate last year. Anyway,  since the boys don't see very often anymore we have setup a standing time on Sunday nights in order for the boys to Skype with their Aunt Kate. They love catching her up on their week and hearing about what is going on inherited life.  It's important for them to keep in touch. It helps them to feel closer to her as well as makes the reunions less stressful for them.  I love Skype,  the boys can use it from the tablet or from the personal Android4Autism devices.  In the picture below,  all three of the boys are gathered around the Tablet…

I screwed up

I'm here to tell you that I'm far from perfect as I make mistakes quite often. This morning,  I was smacked in the face with another mistake I made.  Gavin is out of refills on his Lithium and I was just at Dr.  Reynolds office a few days ago. Dr.  Reynolds even made it a point to ask me if I needed any refills for Gavin. I thought we had refills left on the Lithium but I was very wrong. This is day 2 with Gavin off his mood stabilizers.  Thankfully,  we can get them called in on Monday and at least Gavin in doesn't have school tomorrow.  I'm not sure if a few days off his meds will throw him off course or not but fact that I even…

Guess who’s running a fever…..again

Not that you going to need any extra guesses. However,  I'll give you 3 guesses who is running a fever again. Take your time..   Give up?  Emmett. Emmett woke up from his nap this afternoon and his little cheeks are beet red.  I gave him some time to adjust to the temperature of the room after being under a blanket for a couple hours. Nothing changed after an hour or so.  I took his temp and he's approaching 100°F.  It's not a really big deal,  as many doctors don't consider that a fever.  However,  in Emmett’s case,  he's either getting sick or hitting yet another fever flare.  Thankfully,  the surgery last year,  did help to reduce the intensity of the fevers.  He used to hit 104-105°F and it would last…

Today’s Victory: 01/15/2012

Today's Victory is brought you're you by Gavin and Emmett. While it's true that Gavin can be very challenging,  he has some amazing qualities.  Today,  he worked very patiently with Emmett to build this castle out of blocks. Much of the time,  Gavin is very patient with his brothers.  It's one of his finest qualities. Elliott and Emmett both,  can be very frustrating to play with.  Gavin rarely loses his cool with his brothers.  Even when he does,  he never lashes out at them. I'm very proud of Gavin for all he is. Posted from WordPress for Android
