I’m nervous about Gavin’s IVIG infusion today

I'm really nervous about today's IVIG infusion because I believe that we are bumping up the dose again and I'm not sure how his body is going great to tolerate. Last month's increase wasn't easy for him and it got a bit sketchy for awhile.  I'm praying that today's infusion will go better for him.  Please say a prayer for Gavin and keep him in your thoughts today.. Mad props to my kids OT for instituting this new policy

I noticed this the last time I had my kids to OT at Concorde Kids.  I have to say that I absolutely think this is an amazing policy. Think about it, you have a building full of sensory sensitive kids and some people like to use a bit too much of the smell goods.  Having a policy in place that protects these kids is a great idea.  :-) This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me

An #Android users journey with an #iPad: Just a few things I’ve noticed

Alright, I wanted to update you all on my experience with using the iPad so far. How can I sum this up in a just a few words? How about love/hate. So far I have a love/hate relationship with my new iPad. I'm finding myself frustrated at times because of all the things that Apple borrowed from android, they left out the friggin back button. For me, being used to having this available on all my android devices, I find this cumbersome to not have that one iPad. Something else that I don't like is the onscreen keyboard.  To me, it's useless and inefficient, especially when compared to even the most simple keyboards available on android.  When you compare it to something like SwiftKey, the keyboard I use on my…

Too Many Too Soon: The Anti-Vaccine Fallacy (#Autism)

This video is meant to educate the public and was created by Academic Earth, in an effort to debunk the fears that many parents face when confronting the topic of vaccinating their child. The views and opinions expressed in this video are those of Academic Earth and not necessarily those of Lost and Tired. All credit goes to Academic America for the video and written, quoted content. Academic America has a ton of great information on the website. Please take a few minutes and check them out. :-)  http://academicearth.org   What are your thoughts? Personally, I don't buy into the whole vaccine causes Autism thing. I do believe in vaccine injury and that is truly a tragedy. Part of what I think this video is trying to do is address the almost paranoia gripping the parenting…

Making tough decisions about Occupational Therapy

After Emmett and I feel asleep on the couch this afternoon, Lizze woke me up in time to pick up Gavin and Elliott from school and get them to Occupational Therapy. Elliott is set to continue OT throughout the summer but Gavin's future remains less certain. Between Gavin's extremely low threshold for frustration and all of his health problems, it's getting more and more difficult to work with him.  As I mentioned previously, Gavin's taking a break from speech because he gets way to upset during each session. This brings up health related concerns and so after much discussion, we've pulled the plug on speech, at least for the summer. We have to make a similar decision about OT now as well. Gavin needs to have more adult things when…

Pictures from my special Dad’s breakfast at my kids school

Breakfast with Gavin and Elliott this morning went really well.  We had pancakes and got to sit together and eat. Gavin was in his own world but Elliott talked to me.  :-) It was really cool because it was like every 5 seconds, someone was saying hello to one of the boys.  They have a lot of friends, especially Elliott because he's a little more comfortable in social situations than Gavin is.  We had a great time and then I walked Elliott to his classroom and Gavin ran off to his.  I'm sad because Gavin is so detached from everyone and I remember the times long ago, when it wasn't that way. Either way, this was a great way to start out the day and I'm so grateful for the…

Today I’m feeling Angry

Like the title says, today I'm feeling angry. I'm going to be doing a bigger write up on the impact of our being investigated by Child Protective Services later but I need to just vent for a moment. Whoever decided that it was necessary to create needless and damaging drama, by making a false allegation to Child Protective Services about my wife and I, has made it to the number 1 spot on my shit list. Even though none of the allegations are true and our name will eventually be cleared, the damage has already been done. As you know, the investigators interviewed us all, yesterday afternoon.  They were actually quite amazing and understanding. Having said that, the simple act of having strangers come into the house has been extremely…

The Most Marvelous Mother Award

Gavin came home from school and presented Lizze with the Most Marvelous Mother Award.    He listed off all the things he felt qualified her for this award.  Among those qualities was the fact that she is industrious. :-) He just kills me sometimes.  :-) Anyway, this is a well deserved award and Lizze was very grateful for having received it.  This site is managed almost exclusively via WordPress for Android. Please forgive any typos as autocorrect HATES me. ;-) Follow @Lost_and_Tired Visit the My Autism Help Forums To reach me via email, please Contact Me
