Artwork by Emmett: Captain America

The boys are pretty big into The Avengers right now and today, Emmett decided to draw Captain America.  :-) I love his creativity and the fact that he carefully torn him out of the larger piece of paper that gave birth to him. One of my most favorite things in the world is looking at the amazing things that my little minions manage to muster up with their beautifully creative minds. Great job Emmett, Daddy is sooooo proud of you.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Up late with the kid…..again

Around 1am, Elliott woke up and was having a hard time going back to bed. He's laying in bed watching TV quietly and will likely doze back off to dreamland soon.  I don't like going to sleep when one of the kids are awake. Writing this is helping to keep this tired Daddy awake long enough for Elliott to fall back asleep.  In a few minutes, I'll go check on him and if he's out, I'm going to give into the sandman and drift off to sleep. Hope you night is so restful that you don't read this for a few hours anyway.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Thankfully no one was hurt tonight……

I just left my neighbors house after finding out that someone on a bike, rode by and was firing a pellet gun at our houses. It was roughly 10pm around the time this happened. The jackass on the bike shot out my neighbors window and literally blew out the back window of their car. While Lizze and I were watching TV, in front of our giant picture frame window, I heard something ping off the siding of our house but couldn't find the cause.  Before bed, I was letting the dogs out and my neighbor called me over. Someone had actually witnessed what happened and said it was a guy,  early 20's...... maybe. Hard to tell cause it was so dark out.  The guy was riding a bike and firing…

Fun with wet wipes

Even though we have been without the need of diapers for over a year now (thank God), we still stock wet wipes in order to deshmutsify the kids.  Emmett is at the age where he wants to everything on his own. Wet wipes help him to keep his face clean during the day and he can do it all by himself.  :-) Today he decided to mix his love of creating things with the  newly found independence of cleaning his own face. I bring you diamond shaped wipes.  :-) Well.....he was excited about it anyway.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. My son’s behavior is driving me crazy….and that’s okay

Gavin is driving Lizze and I bonkers.  While there is an element of choice involved, it's mostly not his fault. With that said, it doesn't lessen the level of frustration caused by these behaviors. He's incessantly talking about Sonic the friggin Hedgehog.  Everything's Sonic this and Sonic that.  Even Dr. Patti has expressed concern over Gavin living in his Sonic the Hedgehog world again. The problem with this, at least in Gavin's case, is the fact that he already walks such a fine line between real and imaginary.  We have no problems with him taking interest in something but when that interest takes over his life in what we as his parents consider an unhealthy way, we worry and seek help and guidance. It's not uncommon for kids on the…

Life with #Autism is full of improvisation

Life with my family has been a really long and rewarding journey thus far.  For a long time, I tried so hard to fight the current and make things happen the way I thought they were supposed to happen. Over the years, I realized that not only was that effort fruitless but also pointless as well.  Turns out that when you have 3 boys with Autism and various other special needs, nothing is ever set in stone and there is often no right way to do things. Life as a special needs parent means that I have to be more flexible and sport the ability to improvise.  Today is a great example of that need to improvise. Emmett's not eating much of anything right now because his mouth hurts so…

Dammit…….they’re back….

I mentioned yesterday that Emmett was going into another fever flare for the first time this year.  He had red spots in his mouth which is a precursor for the mouth sores... This morning, we looked again after  he began complaining that his mouth hurt. The sores are officially popping up now.  This time however, they are showing up along his gumline and they are very, very painful.  This explains why he refused to brush his teeth and probably was behind this mornings meltdown. Emmett's going to be miserable for the next week or so and I don't blame him one bit.  This is a very painful experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone, especially my sweet little Emmett John.  :-( This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy…

Upset over the most bizarre things

Holy crap, we've only been up an hour an we've already had one meltdown. This one belonged to Emmett and was over the most bizarre thing.. Emmett had oatmeal for breakfast,  while Elliott and Gavin had Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Emmett began freaking out because Gavin was eating something different than he was.  Apparently, he wanted Gavin to eat the same thing he was.  This set Emmett off and sorta disrupted things for awhile.  He gets upset over the most bizarre things....
