Forcing myself to be hopeful for today

As predicted, I was job at 6am with the boys.  Lizze is dead to the world because she was up with hot flashes all night.  I've never experienced hot flashes but from what I've seen, they're no fun.  In truth, I didn't sleep much better because when she doesn't sleep, she tosses and turns,  keeping me awake as well. Today is going to be a drama free day and hopefully better than yesterday. This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Anytime I get to tuck my kids in bed at night…..

Tonight was supposed to go very differently than it did.  We were supposed to have the night to ourselves to get some much needed rest and alone time.  Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.  Emmett wasn't supposed to have his little alone time ending crisis tonight. We were supposed to go to sleep tonight and wake up when our bodies were ready to wake up. Instead, both boys are home and we'll be lucky to sleep past 6am. Sunday isn't going to bring with it a day of no kids, like it was supposed to.  Our plans have been completely derailed once again.  Having said that, I'm okay. Despite not getting our break, I'm okay.  More importantly, Emmett's okay. To be completely honest with you..... Anytime I get to tuck…

Our night went straight down the toilet

Okay, crisis averted. The boys arrived home about 30 minutes ago.  I immediately stuck Emmett on the toilet to see if we would be able to poop our problems away.  We must of sat there for 20 minutes without even a peep from that stupid bird. Just as we were getting ready to call it quits and head off to Akron Children's Hospital, it happened.  He pooped out the bird. I couldn't believe it.  I don't know how in the world he managed to do this in the first place.  When asked why he did that, he said "the bird wanted to fly up there because it a warm place to build a nest." I'm not angry, I exhausted and riding an adrenalin high since I found out about this. …

Goddammit….it never fails….. Goddammit

Every friggin time we are supposed to get a break something always happens. :-( We just got a phone call. A very disturbing phone call.  I don't even know what to say to this one.  Apparently, Emmett shoved a small toy up his butt. There's no nice way to put this. Right now he's on his way home and we will be most likely heading to Akron Children's Hospital to make sure that everything is okay...um...down there. We had just settled in to watch Supernatural and snuggle when the call came in.  We believe the toy is a Squinky. This should be a squishy rubbery toy but the boys have mixed in some non-squishy ones as well.  We aren't sure which one took the trip. Please say a prayer for…

This #Autism Dad went on a date today

This Autism Dad went on a date today with my lovely wife of almost 10 years.  We actually made it out. There have been many times that we have tried to get out but it simply doesn't workout.  Today however, we actually made it to a movie.  We went and caught a matinee of Iron Man 3. We couldn't afford dinner but we did have a great time anyway.  It was so nice to walk into the theater holding hands with my soul mate and best friend.  We hardly ever get time to ourselves and so we are so incredibly grateful to get whatever time we can.  Today we have our parents to thank for this time alone.  :-) We got home a little bit ago and are just crashing…

We deserve a break…right?

We may actually be sneaking out to a movie.  :-) The boys just left a little while ago and before Lizze's Mom got I to the car to leave, she handed Lizze some cash and told her to go see a movie.  This is really cool.  I feel guilty going because we are so far behind on the mortgage and car payments.  With that said, I think Lizze and I deserve a break and in all honesty, breaks like this only happen once or twice a year for us and we don't always get to take advantage of them.  I also think that it's important that Lizze and I still date each other and do things as a couple.  Lizze really wants to see Iron Man 3 and I'm more…

#Autism parenting fail: Learn from my mistakes

OMG...... I will never, ever tell my kids they're going anywhere until the last minute.  Elliott and Emmett are both on overload from the anxiety and anticipation of going to their grandparents to spend the night.  For about the last 45 minutes, Elliott has been freaking out.  Typically, we would never give them a weeks heads up to anything because we know this is going to be the likely result.  However, we were both so tired of being asked about when they will get to go, we caved.  I mean they were literally constantly asking, especially Emmett.  It was like he was a scratched record and kept repeating the same questions, over and over again.  Out of repetition induce insanity, I told them they would be going and when. At…
