How I’m getting the writing process restarted

I'm trying to get back into writing in a regular basis. It's a bit of a struggle so I'm going to just start off with some basics. I thought I would talk about some of the things I have going on right now and getting some things I'm trying to figure out. It's not super helpful but it does get the writing process going a bit. When I don't know what to do, I tend to fall back on what I do know. Here goes nothing. Today is going to be all about playing catchup with a few things I'm behind on. Let’s get caught up

I spent some time word vomiting about myself in the last post and I want to do a more general update here. There's a lot going on and we should probably get caught up. The kids are getting back to school on the 19th and at this point, it seems like it will be in person. That's great news. I am however, concerned about the very real lack of a mask mandate. The delta variant is a serious threat and no one under the age of 12 is vaccinated. I see nothing good coming from this and I feel like it's highly unlikely that we will be able sustain in person learning. I'm hearing that children's hospitals are filling up with COVID cases. These are kids who cannot protect themselves…

The Truth is I’m Not Okay

I swear to God it feels like I’m always apologizing for not writing enough. I don’t know why I feel the need to do that but clearly I do. I guess that I feel as though I’m letting people down when I don’t write or share. That’s just a weird thing I put on myself though. Review: The Ambush #Mosquito Trap

I was just talking about working in the yard and looking forward to being able to relax and unwind after a long day. Maybe enjoy a nice bonfire or even a cookout on the front porch. We've been putting a lot of effort into getting the outside of the house repainted, as well as some landscaping projects done. I still have yet to decide whether I'm going to paint the porch floor or put new indoor outdoor carpet down. Who knows, I have a lot on my plate and I'm okay with taking my time right now. Let’s Talk About Respite

I want to talk about something that's really important and most parents don't get enough of. If you're a special needs parent, you're probably all too familiar with the word respite. Basically, respite means break. More specifically, it means a temporary break and is usually associated with caregivers. While my focus is more on special needs parenting, this really applies to any parent because we all need to take care of ourselves and we all need a break from time to time. Pain can be exhausting

I spent most of yesterday painting with my Dad, as we're working on the outside of the house. Since I've gone back to working out, I've had a flare up of tendonitis in right arm. It's not a huge deal but it's painful and impacts the use of my right arm a bit. My back is also sore from working over my head while painting. Thankfully, it's not too bad. Between my arm and my back, I'm exhausted and I feel rundown. It's crazy the impact pain can have on someone. When I'm in this much pain, I tend to be quiet and far less outgoing. I am feeling a bit better today but I'm looking forward to receiving the tendonitis band I ordered because that will provide a great…

Do parents ever really clock out?

One of the things about being a parent is that you never really get to clock out. Being a parent is a 24/7/365 kinda job. While it's true that it can be exhausting, it's also absolutely worth it. Recently, I found myself with a bit more freedom because my kids are gaining more and more independence. That's truly a great thing and I'm very grateful for the new found freedom and I'm incredibly proud of my kids' newly discovered independence. As a parent, when you gain a bit of freedom, it's like fresh oxygen in your lungs. It's invigorating and exciting. I'm pretty sure kids feel something similar as they gain greater levels of independence. As amazing as it is, it's not an exact science and there are still moments…
