I got tested for #COVID and here’s why

This is going to be super quick folks. I’ve been in pretty rough shape for the last 48 hours or so. It got so bad today that I went and got tested for COVID, just to be sure.

It’s been exactly 3 weeks since I had my second dose of the Moderna vaccine. The second day I was pretty miserable. Following that, I’ve been fine. The other day I woke up with back pain, a headache and that progressed to body aches, muscle pain, and I’m so exhausted.

I didn’t think much of it but it got really intense. I didn’t sleep last night because I kept waking up in a cold sweat, I couldn’t stay warm, or stop shaking.

Motrin helped for a little while and I felt a bit better the next morning. That was short-lived because by early afternoon, it hit me again, like a freight train. It was worse than the day before and I ended up sleeping on and off for most of the day.

My concern was breakthrough infection, which isn’t common but it is possible. I also was thinking it might be possible that I’m having a delayed immune response. Not too sure about that because this would have technically been a second immune response.

I feel exactly like I did on the first day, following the second shot, but it’s much more intense this time around.

After talking to a few people and seeking out advice, I decided to go get tested. I don’t know why it says suspected exposure because I have no idea if or when I was exposed.

My test came back, with a 92% accuracy rating that I was negative for COVID. That’s obviously a good thing but it doesn’t explain WTF is happening to me.

Turns out, and I’ve not independently verified all the details outside of I know it happens, but some people are having a delayed immune response to the second Moderna shot. The location I was at has seen a few people come in with the same symptoms, even after being fully vaccinated for two or three weeks.

We’re just going to go with that because it makes the lost sense. Regardless of what it is, it sucks. It’s pretty rough and I don’t think I remember ever feeling this poorly before. At the very least, it’s worse then the first response I had after the second dose. I know that for sure.

I’m really hoping to feel better in the morning. I haven’t worked out in few days and I’m finding that to be super annoying. I really want to get back on track, ASAP. It’s just not happening today but maybe tomorrow.

Anyway, I’m going back to bed. I feel like crap and I can’t stay awake.

People seem to respond more to the second shot anecdotally. My mom just had a sore arm after her first pfizer shot. After her second shot she was in bed for two days and miserable but then recovered fine. That isnt a delayed response, but just speaking to second shot versus first. You might have also caught some unrelated bug. Get well soon!

Get well Rob. I’m having some delayed symptoms I believe are from my 2nd vaccine dose also.
