It’s been 14 years today

I'm super tired, no surprise I'm sure. This will be short and sweet, I promise. I wanted to take a minute and share that today is our fourteenth anniversary. Lizze and I have been married since 2003 and still going strong. Life hasn't always been perfect, and neither has our marriage. We've learned a great deal about ourselves and each other along the way. Being special needs parents isn't an easy job, and it takes one hell of a toll on a marriage. We've had to work extra hard to overcome these challenges. We've learned from our many mistakes and we'll continue to do so into the future. I'm so grateful to have been able to spend all these years with my best friend and I can't wait to spend…

Gavin’s Wish is being GRANTED :-)

It's been a crazy day so far, but a truly amazing one as well. I'm able to officially share that Gavin will be having his wish granted. The timing is up in the air at the moment but it will be as soon as Gavin is able to make the trip. We will be spending seven days in Florida at Give Kids The World Village. Weare getting tickets to all the parks there, including Disney, Universal, Kennedy Space Center, Lego Land, etc. All of this is made possible by Wishes Can Happen. The boys and I spent some time this morning at their 10th annual Wish-A-Thon. It's sponsored by 94.1 and WHBC, a local radio station. Gavin and I were interviewed on the radio. We shared Gavin's story and he did great.…

I’m no longer associated with Guardian Locate

I have a very important announcement to make and I want to do so in the most tactful way possible. Please understand that I'm not opening this up to questions because I'm not sure it's appropriate.  As you may or may not know, I co-founded a company called Guardian Locate. The mission was to provide state of the art tracking devices for people with a propensity to wander. Think kids with Autism or people with Alzheimer's.  For the past four or five years, this has been a project that I've devoted a great deal of time and energy towards. I'd attached both my name and reputation to this project, which believe it or not, carries some weight in this community.  As of about a week ago, I've terminated my involvement…

Here’s what happened

It's been a few days and there are a few reasons for that. The biggest however, is that this site went down and it took me almost three days to fix it. I'm still not sure what happened but I've rebuilt from the ground up and I think everything is in the exact same place it was before. I've been extremely frustrated since this while thing began and I dislike not knowing what's actually wrong. There's still a few things that need to be located, identified and fixed but I'm waiting on the guys at Automattic to get back to me. I just wanted to apologize for the down time and thank you all for sticking around. There's a lot to update you on and I'll do my best to…

I invite you to join my blogroll

I want to create a new database of special needs parenting related sites, blogs, news, and even shops. For that matter, I'm happy to share links to any appropriate site including parenting, family and tech sites. I had an extensive list while running  Lost and Tired but have lost that entire database backup. All you need to do is simply fill out the contact form below with the following: Name Email address (kept private) Full URL for your site A brief description of what your site is about All I ask in return is that you add my link to your site as well. When I did this on my old site, I found that those involved saw a significant increase in referral traffic. We all need back links and this is…

General Update: There’s been a change

I'm constantly looking to improve the user interface of this site. Being able to navigate things without struggle, is really important to a high traffic site.  With that said, I must announce a recent change that you may or may not have already noticed.  The commenting system is back to disqus. I hate changing commenting systems but I've and the toughest time with stability issues. The previous system that had been in place for a few months began deactivating itself.  When this happened, it left the wordpress native commenting system exposed and I didn't want that.  I don't know what the deal was but in the absence of a solution, I reverted back to disqus. The custom disqus plugin I use has been recently updated and seems to be working…
