Lizze and I had some time to ourselves this afternoon while the boys were with my parents.  We had a really long night last night with Emmett and we were exhausted. The title of this post is sort of play on words.  Lizze hasn't been feeling well the past couple of days and today she was pretty sick.  I was really tired from being up so late with Emmett last night.  Put us together and we're Sick and Tired. Pretty lame, right? I know, it's just that kind of day. :-P On of the things I wanted to do today, besides watching another Stephen King movie, was get Lizze out of the house. Gavin has been talking incessantly all day.  To be more accurate, he's been talking incessantly for weeks but he's kicked it up a knotch today.  This is all just an upward swing of the bipolar disorder.  An upward swing is one in the manic direction.  A downward swing would be one in the depressive direction. When his moods are balanced, they sorta equalize, somewhere in the middle. What tends to happen with Gavin is that he becomes manic when he's unstable.  When he's manic, he's very hyper and scattered.  He will talk incessantly and his thoughts are a jumbled mess. If you can even understand what he's physically saying, his words don't make any sense. Typically, his manic phase will bring it's friend psychosis along with it. This just means…

If you follow my Facebook page, you know that Lizze and I were watching classic Steven King movies last night.  As we were finishing the last 20 minutes of "IT", Emmett came racing down the steps in a complete panic. Apparently he had another nightmare and was scared. He fell asleep on Lizze, on the couch. When Lizze and I were going to bed, I decided that Emmett and I would sleep on the couch because he wasn't likely to sleep well and I wanted Lizze to get some rest. While today was far from perfect, we did have our share of victories as well.  I wanted to share two of them with you all.  Personally, I feel that it's really, really important to try and find some positive in every single day.  I totally understand that it's not always possible and it's certainly not easy to focus on something positive, especially when things are at their worst.  This is just something that I have taken on as a personal challenge. Today's victory is the fact that there were moments in the day where I watched my kids getting along really well.  Gavin and Emmett were working on a Lego thing and then Elliott and Emmett were sharing the iPad together. For whatever reason, the boys have been into Pokemon the past few days.  They have a renewed interest in the collecting cards and the characters.  They've dug out the Pokemon books and have been having Pokemon battling as well. I battled the hoards of people at Walmart this afternoon and I emerged with a cart full of groceries.  I was on time and under budget so I treated myself to one of my guilty pleasures.  Pull'n Peel's and A&W Cream Soda are among my favorite junk foods that I don't get that often. I felt victorious after surviving the craziness of Walmart on a Saturday morning and decided to celebrate a little bit.  Hey, on occasion I deserve it.  :-) Do you have a family friendly guilty pleasure that you would like to share with the class?
