This guy hatched today

There are a ton of Ladybugs hatching on my front porch today. Seems kinda late in the season, but then again, I don't know when they normally hatch. This little guy is the first to climb out of his shell and I just felt compelled to snap his picture. ☺

A bit of insight into my day

The boys made it to school this morning. They left the car happy and ready to take on the day. I'm grateful for that because I very much hate when I have to send them off to school on a rotten note. Our trip to the Cleveland Clinic was rescheduled because Lizze is sick. In fact, she's running a fever and that's very unusual for her. She's clearly miserable and spending up to three hours in the car wasn't in her best interest. Gavin still went to my parents house anyway and then we were able to go to sleep for awhile. Emmett's not been sleeping well and that means I'm not sleeping well either. He's having a bit of a rough time adjusting to being home at night. I…

Our 1st full day home turned out to be a rough one

Poor Emmett had a rough evening that ended with his finger accidentally being shut in a door by Elliott. He's okay but it obviously hurt and I'm amazed that he fell asleep tonight. Lizze read him Harry Potter until he was out. ☺ This was how we ended our rather tiring day. I didn't realize how much the eighteen hour drive took out of me. I was pretty active yesterday but feel sorta rundown. I think that as the week goes on, things will improve. I'm feeling optimistic about that. One of the things I did begin doing was unpacking. We got home at 3 AM on Sunday morning and managed to get everything in the house, where it just sat until last night. I started going through all the…

Dammit, I shouldn’t have said anything

I just posted that the boys were having a really good day. I talked about how surprised I was that they had transitioned so well and in doing so, I must have tempted the fates. The reason I say that is because not long after, both Elliott and Emmett's day went straight to Hell. Emmett just began melting down over seemingly everything and Elliott soon joined him. I don't know what happened exactly but if I had to guess, I would say that the fallout I thought we'd avoided has made its presence known. For that matter, I'm sure the people three doors down are aware of it as well. lol We will have to work through this and move forward. The more fallout we face, the slower we move…

The transition home hasn’t gone as expected

The boys seem to be adjusting to being home pretty well. That's a bit surprising because we thought it would be a rough transition. They're getting along well and for the most part, are having a low key kind of day. We chose to keep them home from school today because after an eighteen hour drive, they needed to have time to decompress. They actually had school, even though it's a holiday. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of celebrating Columbus Day anyway and I support the kids not having the day off. We just wanted them to have a day to get back into their routine and the school didn't have a problem with that at all. Poor Elliott wasn't able to sleep the entire drive home, all of…

It’s been a roller-coaster of emotions this morning

The van has been returned and I'm super sad. It was an amazing van and it's tough to go back to driving anything else. At the same time, we picked up Maggie from the kennel and now I'm really happy. It's not like I can drive Maggie around town like I could that 2016 Toyota Sienna, but I can snuggle the Sienna like I can Maggie.. Seems like a fair trade... ☺ https://youtu.be/lWkvcgKEuW0

It’s a very important day

I had a rough time sleeping last night it was up about 7 AM anyway. I'm really excited to go pick up Maggie from the kennel and bring her home. We also have to return the van this morning as well. My main goal for today is to simply unpack and get back to life. We were too tired yesterday and frankly, today isn't much better but we want to keep moving forward. ☺

Our final day and the Castle of Miracles

I meant to share this the other night but our return trip didn't go as planned and I didn't have time. The very last thing we did at Give Kids the World Village before departing for home was to have a star for Gavin placed within the Castle of Miracles. Each wish child gets this little star and they are supposed to sign and decorate it. They will then leave it at the Castle of Miracles and while they're sleeping, a fairy comes and places the star on the ceiling of the castle. Walking into the Castle of Miracles and seeing how many stars are on the ceiling is simply breathtaking. Each star represents one wish child that has stayed in the Village and the number is far too numerous…
