Our school year has been surprising

The boys had a good day at school and that's always a good thing. No ones making fun of Elliott over his backpack, and that's an enormous relief.  A big bit of awesome is that Elliott doesn't have homework this year. That's such a huge relief for all of us. Homework has been a nightmare over the years and it looks like we will be getting a break from it.  Unfortunately, Emmett is getting homework this year but he seems to be doing okay with it. ☺  I'm kinda liking the level of positive surrounding this school year already. I was really worried about how things were going to go, but so far, it's been awesome.

I can’t change what I can’t control

I want to thank everyone for all the well wishes. I'm feeling much better, and Lizze did a great job of taking care of her sick husband. ☺  I'm pretty sure it was something I ate last night. Actually, I cooked myself a chicken breast in the air fryer, and perhaps that was the issue? Either way, I'm back up and running, well, moving around without feeling the need to yack. lol I did wake up to a scary realization that I've lost my wallet. That almost never happens, at least not in a really long time. It's really weird the way stuff goes missing in our house sometimes. I'm 99.9% sure it's in the house.  Lizze and I have always joked between ourselves, that we have a mischievous ghost…

I’m not feeling well

I'm canceling my plans for today because I woke up this morning and I feel like crap. Something I ate last night is definitely not agreeing with me. I'm not even walking this morning.  Hopefully, I'll feel better as the day goes on. I'm just going to stay hydrated and try to get some sleep this morning.

We have some really sad news to share

You may or may not know, I turn 39 years old on Thursday. Aside from this being the last year of my third decade life, there's a something that's going to make this day pretty awful.  On Thursday at 2:30 PM, we will be taking our Cleo to the vet again.  It breaks my heart to share that Cleo will not be coming home with us after this visit. Unfortunately, she's going to be put to sleep and that's going to be really tough.  She actually turned thirteen yesterday.  A few weeks back, she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. She'd been having problems for a few months and none of the medications helped. At the beginning of August, we had her back to the vet and we learned that she…

Even when they drive me crazy

That's wasn't a very relaxing walk. Taking the boys is something I enjoy doing, because I like spending the time with them, while trying to instill healthy habits.  While I enjoy it, on the other hand, it's frustrating because the boys are so focused on Pokémon Go, it feels like I spend most of the time redirecting them. Today was particularly challenging and I'm more stressed out now than I was before.  Generally speaking, the boys actually do pretty well.  We still managed to get about a mile and a half before calling it quits. Emmett's little legs were getting too tired and I didn't want to have to carry him. My knee is still bothering me and that would have been too much.  My Mom walked with us and…

I’m grateful he’s feeling better enough to sleep

Gavin had issues with reflux again last night before bed. Tums seemed to address the problem and he went to bed feeling better.  We have to get him into gastroenterology and have him evaluated again. Unfortunately, hematology comes first but we'll schedule gastro as soon as possible as well.  I'm hoping we can get hematology done before our trip. I'd feel much more comfortable if I knew what was going in before we left.  For right now though, I'm just grateful he's feeling better and is able to sleep.

Starting the week off on the right foot

We're going to start the week off on the right foot. The boys and I are going to meet my Mom for an early morning walk. Gavin will be staying home with Lizze cause this will be too far of a walk for him.  The pace will be a bit much for him and I don't want him to feel the need to push himself.  I'll take him walking later in the week.  I'm hoping to get two miles in before this whole eclipse thing happens.  This will be a great way to begin the week and renew my weight-loss efforts.

Not everyone would appreciate movie night at our house

We had a pretty nice evening. It was decided that we should have a family movie night, although no one could agree on a movie. After a wee bit of drama and complaining, I made the executive decision that we would be watch The Martian...  Movies with my family usually involve Gavin running away during any intense or emotional moments, Elliott critiquing every scene, and Emmett explaining how what we're watching isn't actually possible with our current level of technology.  Needless to say, they were in full form with this movie. ☺  I'd say you get used to it but truthfully, it's still pretty annoying. lol It was still fun and everyone actually made it through to the end of the movie. Gavin left a few times but he always…
