I hit a MAJOR weight loss milestone

I've got some news that I think is pretty goddamn amazing and I'm incredibly proud of myself. 2018 has been a year of accomplishing goals. These goals are more personal in nature and basically were that I wanted to bring my weight loss journey to a major milestone, as well as return to the dentist after a lengthy break. Coming into 2018, my weight hit an all-time high of 340+ lbs and I knew I needed to make a change. My ultimate goal was to bring my weight under 300 lbs before the end of the year and I worked as hard as I could to make that happen. Until the weather turned frigid, I walked an average of 81 miles a month at the track and that was quite…

#Selfcare is a journey but it’s worth the effort

I know it's not Wednesday but I forgot to share this because of all that has gone on this week.. Truthfully, I forget to share on most Wednesdays. ☺ Anyway, as you know, I've been working on weight loss this year. I had unfortunately, reached 340 lbs during the early parts of 2018. It was a low point in my life and I knew that I had to do something. My family needs me and I can't let them down by letting myself go. This weeks weigh-in has me even closer to my first major milestone. I very much want to be under 300 lbs before the end of the year. As of today, I'm less than a pound away. ☺ I want to end 2018 on a high note.…

I’ve crushed my first major weight-loss goal today

I'm super excited to share some amazing news about my personal weight-loss journey. I came into 2018 at 338 lbs. There are many things that contributed to me going from someone weighing 220 lbs and being solid muscle to where I've found myself today. There was a major injury that took me almost 15 years to overcome from and the pain prevented me from being as active as I once was. Antidepressants played a major role in the weigh gain as well, as did the stress of being an Autism parent. All that said, I also have to take ownership of the bad eating habits I'd developed over the years. Food became my way of cooping with my physical and emotional pain. Anyway, I've been working to make changes in…

Taking the @WithingsEN Steel Activity and Sleep Watch on my weight-loss journey

After my doctor's appointment yesterday, I'm motivated to continue moving in the right direction in regards to my health. The biggest thing I have to work on is my weight and blood pressure.  These can be overwhelming to work on, but there are tools available to help keep people motivated. These tools come in the form of apps and activity trackers. While they aren't required to lose weight, they do make things a bit more fun and efficient.  I've used many different activity trackers from Jawbone up, FitBit, Basis and the entire Samsung Gear series.  Most do pretty much the same thing. The main difference is the device's corresponding app and how the app integrates or shares data with other third party apps like myfitnesspal.  Recently, Nokia sent me the…

Losing weight while being an #Autism parent is tough – Here’s 10 tips that are working for me

I wanted to share one of the things I'm doing to help with my weight-loss journey. In the time before I had kids or hurt my back, I was a body builder. I worked out seven days a week and loved every minute of it. Fast forward through a major back injury and three kids with very demanding special needs, and I'm no longer in the best shape of my life. 😁  My goal is to lose roughly sixty pounds over the next year and I think that's perfectly reasonable. I want to lose two pounds per week and that's a very reasonable approach. Losing weight too fast isn't always the best thing and I want to give my body time to adjust as the weight falls off.  Trying to…
