#Autism Parenting: I always try to foster my kids willingness to be helpful

There are times when my kids are feeling very helpful and times that they want nothing to do with helping. I always try to encourage them when they're in the mood to be helpful. I feel as though it's an opportunity to help them learn something new and it helps to build skills that will help them become more independent...  ☺ I know that most of the time when I have little helpers, the job ends up taking more time but that time is well worth it, at least in my book.

AWESOME NEWS: I feel like a pretty awesome Dad tonight

It's not very often that I can say this but today proved to be pretty awesome.  The boys and I had an amazing time this afternoon with my Mom.. ☺ We spent the morning at home and taking care of a couple errands that needed to be done.  The boys did great and I didn't have anything more than a few hiccups to deal with along the way. Emmett was running a fever again but was otherwise asymptomatic, so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spend some time together outside exploring.. Rather than just going down the street to the local park, we picked up my Mom and headed to Quail Hallow State Park in Hartville, Ohio.  You can check out all the pictures above and…

This actually felt really good to hear today

These are just a couple pictures from today.. ☺    I'm going to say that the highlight of today was simply making it through.. ☺ There actually were a few highpoints but I have to keep those under wraps until I get the okay to share. Today just seemed to require a great deal of energy and effort to get anything done. For that reason alone, I'm grateful to be writing this from the semi-comfort of my own bed. As far as everyone's therapies went today, they did really well.  Gavin did well in physical therapy and later in speech.  Emmett only had occupational therapy today but he did awesome as well.
