It’s not very often that I can say this but today proved to be pretty awesome.  The boys and I had an amazing time this afternoon with my Mom.. ☺

We spent the morning at home and taking care of a couple errands that needed to be done.  The boys did great and I didn’t have anything more than a few hiccups to deal with along the way.

Emmett was running a fever again but was otherwise asymptomatic, so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spend some time together outside exploring..

Rather than just going down the street to the local park, we picked up my Mom and headed to Quail Hallow State Park in Hartville, Ohio.  You can check out all the pictures above and there are quite a few but I’ve tweaked them to be more user-friendly.  ☺

We ended up hiking almost 3 miles, and the boys did amazing.

Unfortunately, Gavin was unable to join us because his meds were hitting him pretty hard.  He ended up staying at my parent’s house with my Dad.

I’m pretty excited because Emmett wants to go camping and I know Elliott would love it if he got out there.  Gavin wants nothing to do with it, but I think he’d enjoy it as well if he went.

Taking the boys camping is on my short list of wishes/hopes for this summer.

Anyway, aside from being completely exhausted and eating too much pizza for dinner, I’m feeling pretty great.  I feel like I gave the boys a positive experience today and it was well within my budget of free.

There are so many times I feel like I’m failing my kids because I have so many financial limitations right now and they’ve got so much going on in their young lives that are outside of their control.

I know I’m overly sensitive when it comes to the boys because they’ve been through so much but you know, on days like today, I feel like a pretty good Dad. ☺
