Happy Sunday

A little sunshine...... I took this picture a few days ago. I manually edited it to remove the background color, or restore the color of the main flower. It depends in how you look at it. Anyway, this took a little while but I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

Do you agree with this statement?

The boys are in their way home and I'm feeling slightly recharged. That's about as good as it gets when you're an Autism parent. If you ever get a break, it's never enough to fully recharge.  What you end up getting is just enough of a recharge to keep puttering along. Autism parents expend so much energy on an hourly basis, I'm not sure it's even possible to ever fully recharge.  Do you agree with that statement? Please explain.

Thank God his supplies showed up

I mentioned yesterday that Gavin's IVIG infusion supplies hadn't showed up. Thankfully, they arrived yesterday, right before the boys left for their Grandparents house.  I showed Gavin how to make sure that he received everything he was supposed to by going over the supply list, and checking things off.  Gavin did an awesome job accounting for everything.  Unfortunately, by the time the supplies did arrive, we had run out of time to do his infusion before he left. We'll be taking care of this as soon as he gets home from his grandparents house..

Feeding our marriage

Lizze and I had a nice night. We went and saw the new Spider-Man Homecoming movie, and it was awesome.  I can't remember the last time we spontaneously went to a movie, let alone a super late showing like tonight. It felt good to be able to do that. It's important that Lizze and I get time to feel like a couple.  Things like this help to keep our relationship strong, and our sanity intact. Being Autism parents is really stressful, especially when it comes to maintaining a marriage. It's really important to focus on our relationship, because that helps us to be better parents.

Hello smidgen of normalcy

I'm feeling a little better and we've decided to go to a movie. We haven't been to a late night movie since Harry Potter... Lizze made me take her to each movie at midnight, on opening day. ☺  Anyway, this is rather spontaneous and really out of character for us. For that reason alone, I think this is a great idea..  Hello smidgen of normalcy..  ☺

At least until I feel better

Lizze's appointment went well and we grabbed some Chipotle on the way home. Unfortunately, said Chipotle is not sitting well at the moment.  It looks like it will be a quiet night on the couch, at least until I feel better.

I need advice from Adult #Autistics or those with #SensoryProcessingDisorder

Okay folks, I've always been someone who's keenly aware of how Adult Autistics can be an absolutely amazing resource for parents of kids with Autism, like myself.  Today I'm reaching out to the Adult Autistic community, and or people with Sensory Processing Disorder. I have a question about my oldest with Autism.  My goal is to gain a better understanding of what he's experiencing, so I can better support him.  Gavin usually goes with me when I fill up our five gallon water jugs. These jugs have built in handles, to make them easier to carry. Some of the jugs have no grip on the handle, while others have a slightly textured grip to keep it from slipping out of your hand.  Gavin always complains about the water jugs with…
